Hi all,

My fiancé Thomas and I received word that our I-129F,  K1 visa application had been received on May 15,2017. It's been a really long 2 months of waiting and I wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on what to expect from here . We are so hopeful that Thomas will receive word about his medical and interview soon . But nothing yet. Also I have recently had to go out on disability, does anyone one know if that will cause an issue with me being his sponser? Thank you!

Currently it takes 3-4 months to receive a NOA2. Therefore, you are still well within the processing times :)

Upon the receipt of NOA2, you should also prepare the I-134 + supporting documents and new letter of intent. All these should be shipped to the beneficiary so that he/she could bring it to the K-1 interview.

Once the NOA2 is issued, USCIS will transfer the file to NVC and then NVC will transfer to the local embassy. This stage could take from 2 weeks to a month or more.

When the case file is at NVC, you can call NVC to ask for the case file number as well as invoice identification number (IIN). After obtaining the case number, you can track your case file and status at https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx. Once the tracker says 'Ready', it means the file has arrived at the local embassy.

Once the local embassy is ready, they will contact the beneficiary with Packet 3 - could be PDF file via e-mail, could be normal paper mail. Some embassy has Packet 4, some don't. The beneficiary needs to gather all the necessary stuff indicated in the Packet 3 and follow the instructions to receive a Packet 4 if there is one for that embassy.

If you have gone into disability and you are unable to meet the poverty guideline requirement, you will need to find a co-sponsor.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

It can be a confusing process. I have two recommendations.  Get involved over in the subforum for the UK. There are many experts there that have completed the steps the you have questions about.  http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/

Next go to the US Embassy for UK and read up on the required steps and document needed to process your visa/interview: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/

And thirdly, the VJ wiki for the UK at http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages

we have been waiting for NOA2 since March 13th (received, NOA1: March 16). It is 134 days today and still no sign of it.

It does sometimes gets so discouraging when you see people after you get approved, some even almost at their interview stage and just nothing is happening on your case.

Not sure if they forgot about it, lost it or what, just no updates at all

Hang in there, but at this rate, you will probably be approved before us
