Security Checks?

Recently I received my NOA1 with an "Unkown" listed under the subject "Country of Birth". I called the number they had listed and they told me that they could only put in a request to change the topographical error. I went through with it and I then received an e-mail stating that:

On 07/17/2017, you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your I-129F to notify us that you would like to adjust the Change of Birth location for the beneficiary. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

We have placed your case on a processing hold because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

We cannot predict when we will receive the results of these security checks. Please be assured that we will make every effort to make a decision in your case as soon as the security checks are complete.

Has anybody gone through this? And what is this security check? How long does these usually take? What actions will I be able to take? If anybody can help me with this I would feel rest assured.

Everyone goes through security checks. Those aren't done by USCIS themselves so they're not in control of how long it will take. It's impossible to give a timeframe, could anything from a few days to several weeks and even months. All you can do is wait until you hear back from USCIS.
