So, the emperor is naked, and deranged. In some alternate facts reality, this is yet, another win for America.

Trump Says He Has ‘Complete Power’ to Pardon

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/22/us/politics/donald-trump-jeff-sessions.html?action=click&contentCollection=Media&module=RelatedCoverage&region=Marginalia&pgtype=article

NORFOLK, Va — President Trump on Saturday asserted the “complete power to pardon” relatives, aides and possibly even himself in response to investigations into Russia’s meddling in last year’s election, as he came to the defense of Attorney General Jeff Sessions just days after expressing regret about appointing him.

Mr. Trump suggested in a series of early morning messages on Twitter that he had no need to use the pardon power at this point but left the option open. Presidents have the authority to pardon others for federal crimes, but legal scholars debate whether a president can pardon himself. Mr. Trump’s use of the word “complete” seemed to suggest he did not see a limit to that authority.

“While all agree the U.S. President has the complete power to pardon, why think of that when only crime so far is LEAKS against us,” he wrote on Twitter. “FAKE NEWS.”

The Washington Post reported in recent days that the president and his advisers had discussed pardons as a special counsel intensifies an investigation into whether associates of Mr. Trump and his campaign conspired with Russia to intervene in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Eventually, Congress will most likely have to do it.

If he vetoes the Russia sanction bill then it should be the final nail in the coffin.

@eieio  Although I respect the fact that you support Trump even if I might not understand why, you seem to post comments looking to be incendiary rather than get your point across or to even be open to discussion. Some might seem a little overly dramatic , but you can't deny things are crappy right now. People are voicing their concerns (Both sides)  and this whole fight /division is only going to hurt a lot of them in the process. Maybe not today, or tomorrow. The fact it might not apply to you doesn't mean it is not a possibility or that it is not real.

I am always open for discussion. However, I recognize when individuals are clueless and not worth trying to have a discussion with.Take you for example. I believe I have always been respectful to you. I don't ever remember treating you in a negative manner at all. I even overlooked the time you stated you have no respect ( or something along those lines) for anyone who voted for Trump.

I am not sure exactly what you are referring to when you say things are crappy? If you mean the divisiveness....then I agree.

I want to believe that. But comments like the previous one are just designed to provoque and not contribute, in my opinion. Hence my observation, I could we wrong of course.

And no, you've never been offensive to me directly, just as I wasn't trying to be disrespectful to you, just making an observation.

* Regarding my comment, It wasn't directed to anyone in particular, sorry if you felt personally offended by it. I did say that and I stand by it, but people change.  It is taking all my strength and understanding to grasp why anyone would still stand by a man that has been openly disastrous in many ways. Not even mentioning what the media says, (I agree there is a lot of sensationalism)  I'm not biased by it, I'm making a judgment solely based on what he says. Even then I've always been open to learning more about what he is trying to do to make America great again.

The experience is vastly different for me than it is for you. I am not a rapist, murderer or bad hombre, and I refuse to be painted at such, but that is what Trump has done since the beginning of his campaign. He reduced my whole country to a series of stereotypes (violent, lazy, poor, uneducated, the drug war) which does personally affect me. Of course we are not perfect, and I understand that many have illegally crossed the border which I've never supported, but we are not all the same.  It's been proven that most of the ilegal immigrants are coming from central/south America but to him, everything south is ''Mexico'' and our problem. Which is just partially true.

A lot of us are following the rules, filing the same fees, apart from our families just like the rest. And we still get treated like common criminals.

I hope you understand why people are being affected by him even if it's just indirectly, although it doesn't apply to you, it applies to others.

Well said.

I have friends who are natural born US citizens of Mexican descent who are called "Mexicans" on the street without provocation and have been stopped by randoms asking to provide ID and proof of their status. One of my college friend's mom (A US Citizen for decades now) brings her passport everywhere with her because she is afraid she will get "called out" and "questioned" about her legal status. The thought of having to do that myself (as a white male) is just crazy. It shouldn't be any different for her.

I'm really grateful for people like you that see beyond their privilege and have compassion for others that aren't as lucky.

I happen to be a somewhat ''fair skin Mexican'' and it pains me to acknowledge this has prevented me from experiencing most of it.  I'm still scared, and I'm sure I will carry my green card with me at all times.  I have friends and family members that deal with what you just mentioned, the fact that a lot of people don't know the difference between race and nationality is beyond me. These people are born U.S citizens or become them after undergoing a painfully long, expensive and legal process, and still have to deal with a lot of hate and racism. No one should have to feel like they don't belong in their own country, the only one they've grown to love and respect.

In the end, most people out there share the same view. Unfortunately some of the more ignorant kind tend to call attention to themselves, in the streets, as well as in this forum. It's even more interesting that most of the xenophobic comments are originate by immigrants themselves, or those whose greencard depends on often times questionable arrangements. Surely a projection of their self-loathing.

Belonging to this country is yours for the taking, not theirs for giving; and never forget that what others think of you, should be none of your business. None of these people can tell you where you belong, what or who you are. Only you can do that.

My wife and I have talked about this quite a bit since she is a recent immigrant to the US (In April). She came from the UK, and is very aware of the "privilege" of being a white European. Even after people hear her accent, they'll still never question her right to be here. She doesn't carry her passport around and she only moved here 3 months ago.

You get the impression that they wouldn't even care if she was here ilegally since she is British and not a "Mexican" (Anyone of Central/South American descent). Meanwhile she has friends in her industry that are here expat and are from Nigeria or Venezuala and the racism and assumptions of "illegal status" is rampant.

I agree. One of my best friends in Texas is originally from Germany, really white and blond. We joke how no one ever bats an eye when they see her, she could be ilegal and smuggling hardcore drugs and no one would know. We also notice how widely different we get treated once we go out, or that people assume I'm the immigrant, while we both are.  It is really sad that immigrants from certain countries are deemed ''bad or most certainly ilegal'' compared to others countries. While I get why ( illegal immigration levels from central/south America compared to European countries, cultural differences, education, money, etc) it is still a hard pill to swallow.

When I went to the embassy last year, the agent kept asking me why I knew English fairly well, and why I didn't have a thick Mexican accent. She asked me at least three times if I lived in the U.S and ''why I knew English'' implying I had maybe  lived there illegally at some point (which I haven't) It gets to show you that a lot of people still don't believe educated bilingual Mexicans exist,  and that we are not all farmers and maids (nothing wrong with that though) or that we are not all trying to get there illegally.

I love reading your posts/comments. Often my husband says ''I feel ashamed of my country, I am sorry'' and I tell him he shouldn't, as I am certain that actually most people are not racist/Xenophobic and they just want stability, love and respect. Before borders, petty fights and the twisted sense of righteousness/justice,  we are all just human trying to make the best for ourselves and our loved ones. Learning to adapt, respect and love a country. I know it is going to be difficult to get used to the U.S at first, but all the good people in it like you, make it worth it.

Thank you so much.

Your husband shouldn't feel ashamed because of a few bad imported oranges! LOL. Let these people sweat over your accent and wonder. Take it in stride and feel sorry for them.  It must be miserable to live like that, always concerned with the state of affair or your neighbor, as opposed to caring about your own life. Be happy, enjoy your family, and your new country. Life's too short for your to waste time validating their insecurities and phobias.
