Did anyone have their fiancé or fiancée sign the forms about 2 months before they planned to submit?

I would like to avoid mailing the docs back and forth.

did anyone find any issues doing this?

The statement of intent to marry must be signed and dated within 30 days of submission. One from both of you.

The passport style photos must also (technically) be taken within the last 30 days, but if they don't contain a date on the back, you're fine.

For me, all of my documentation was filled out and signed 3-4 months before we submitted it. The only ones we had to get new copies of were what I mentioned above.

We chose a shipping date in advance with a fair bit of buffer between my US fiance's visit and the said date. Thereafter, we dated everything closer to the chosen shipping date and sign in advance for him to bring back to the US with the exception of some new evidence of meeting because I still needed to do the labeling and organizing. We didn't have any issues but of course doing things that way just meant we couldn't ship things to USCIS earlier than the stuff we had dated and signed unless we were to spend more on shipping, which was the thing that we tried to save on in the first place :jest:

As for the passport photos, according to this link https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/general/photos.html, it should be:

  • Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

this is incorrect as per I-129F instruction form.

Those requirements above are for the visa photos themselves (taken to consulate / embassy).

Having had to take photos more than once because we dragged our feet on filing, I'm definitely on top of that one

That's not a bad thing being on top of things because there are just so many different requirements for all the stages :jest: If only they would just standardize those stuff already!

Thanks everyone!!!

so when you say you picked a date in between, does that mean you signed for like October in august? Or something like it? Sorry for all the questions.
