The news videos are a shocker. It looks so post Katrina like, people wading through waist deep water, pushing air mattress and little inflatables with the elderly and young children on board. And it's far from over

1. Plane from Cozumel to Mexico City, wandering around the airport, seeing a friend, capsule hotel inside the airport to nap.

2. Board the 2:00 AM plane to Tokyo, 14 hours. My circadian clock is trembling. 

3. Arrive to Narita and get a train to Shinjuku, in Tokyo.

4. Enjoy Tokyo for three days

5. Go back to Narita, grab a plane to Bangkok, 6 hours. 

6. Start the volunteering project with Elephants for two weeks 

7. Come back to Narita, then Tokyo again, Airbnb in the suburbs

8. Enjoy Tokyo for three more days

9. Back to Narita then fly back to Mexico City (14 hours again)

10. Stay one night and fly the next back to Cancun then train and bus back to Cozumel.

 

I did this to myself. and I am so excited

Yeah at least with Sandy here, it was over the next day. I thought I was gonna find my boat on the highway somewhere. But it made out like the "Jenny" on Forrest Gump...

But there was no gas for a week or 2. My friends siphoned the gas outta the boat.it has 2-two hundred gallon tanks.

Going to be ages before this gets cleared up. The longer Harvey sits and spins, the worse it will flood.

That's crazy with the hurricane. I remember Wilma and how devastating it was for my town/the southern part of my country. Our houses are actually made of stone though, so I can see how a hurricane could be way more destructive there. Hope you are all safe

Most gas-station reservoirs here are probably contaminated by now, dilution man...

Building Codes here should mandate strength against Category Many hurricanes/himmicanes and be built on stilts, reality man.

 

National Weather Service or other authority estimates that Many,000,000,000 (count the zeroes) gallons of rain had fallen just as of last night, unprecedented man.  NWS describes this event in the unprecedented term "catastrophic, life-threatening flooding," accurate man.

 

Arguably obscene or sacreligious to admit, but we are proceeding with the Sunday laundry as usual, feel guilty man.

Speaking of which, Intercontinental Airport in Houston is closed to all traffic till at least noon Monday.  Hobby Airport (Southwest's, essentially) is closed for the next Many (2+1) days.

 

Had our Iowa trip been this past week instead of when it was, we'd be unable to return casa-ward, stranded we man.
