Report from Tuesday August Many'th (2x2x2th), see man:

Rentalmobiled northward through Spencer, Okoboji, & Spirit Lake, travel we man.

Absence of thrift shops inexplicable & so frustrating that we actually patronized a Goodwill, not the plan man.

Got Mini-B. Many (2+2) very nice pants for $Many ($2x2x2+2), weakly in the financial ballpark man.

Bought Many local newspapers for Mama T-B., appreciate senior she man.

Found another thrift store & got more stuff for Mini-B., broke the seal man.

Iowa's resort area (Storm Lake/Okoboji/Spirit Lake) quite scenic and packed with tourists, good reason man.

In Spirit Lake, we found a thrift shop offering "all the kid's clothes that you can stuff in a bag for $Many ($2x2+1)," finally man.

We got Many (2x2x2+2+2+1) good items for Mini-B., finally score we man.

This cheered us up, cheered we man.

Headed east on Iowa Hwy. Many (2x2x2+1) to Estherville, last area of civilization heading that way man.

Thrift-shopped more, score we man.

Detoured northward to Jackson, Minn., teeming metropolis man.

Scored for Mini-B. at thrift store there, really good stuff man.

Had intellectually stimulating conversation with fill-in cashieress, a skoolteechur, fun even though not a rubia man.

Returned to Estherville, backtrack we man.

Bought ourself Iowa Lakes Community College T-shirt, nothing for Mini-B. man.

Eastwarded over farmland through minuscule towns to Lake Mills, itself tiny man.

Checked in at Many-room (2x2x2-room) motel owned by older single lady, nice but unpolished she man.

Other guests quite unpolished, too, but well-behaved man.

All murmured, "That's a Cadillac," see rentalmobile they man.

We assured them that it was a crate, truth man.

Dinnered at only Mexican restaurant in town, arrived just before large group man.

Got cardboard boxes at town's supermarket, helpful employees man.

Began packing purchases thus far, with use of tape & mailing-labels brought from casa, plan we man.

Perfectly packed Many (2+2) boxes (2 to us, 1 to Mama T-B., 1 to amigo), proficient we man.

Got an hour less of zzz than we wanted/should've had, sacrifice zzz we man.

Arrived in Des Moines in comfortable time for flight, no rushing or dead time man.

Turned in Rentalmobile, blessed relief man.

We'd put Many (2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2+[2x2x2x2x2x2x2]+[2x2x2x2x2x2]+[2x2x2]) miles on that jalopy, truth man.

Both flights extremely full, vacation time for all man.

We were prepared for Many-hour layover, not that boring man.

Napped through most of second flight, missed cabin service man.

Flights uneventful, timely departures early arrivals man.

Bags (not those under our eyes) took forever to appear on carousel, frustrating man.

Mrs. T-B. retrieved us, amazingly no ADD she man.

Got to casa & began unpacking, do it now man.

Mini-B. returned from amigo's casa, glad to see us we & wee man.

Gave Mini-B. his bubble-stick, Hot Wheels, & Transformer, pleased wee man.

Mowed lawn in afternoon heat, already sweaty we man.

Warshered/baked/folded Many (2+1) laundry loads, one too many for tired we man.

Zzz we man.

Linkin Park's CDs were always in rotation for me when I was younger and I knew all the words.  I too can't believe he did this.  His poor 6 children without a father now.  I know people have trouble seeing out of their depression, but the impact on his children's lives and all the young fans he had who might follow suit.  It just upsets me.

@Asia and @N-o-l-a I agree. It was truly shocking, especially of the fact that he has kids and was on tour, it makes no sense at all.

I think it maybe has to do with Cornell since they were really good friends, but no one know what they were going through, and depression is not a choice. You don't ''want'' to hurt other people or leave your family suffering. The world is just, ugh. I can't even right now.

Yeah, that was my thinking.

When I got noticed about his death I called my sister and we both cried a little bit. I was so angry at him that he did something like this to his kids. How it is possible that his own kids weren't enough reason for him to live? I thought about him as a coward. That was a cowardly way to celebrate his friend Chris' birthday. Oh, how angry I was at him! The whole situation seemed so absurd and unreal.

But I know it's much more compicated. Depression sucks. I'm thankful I don't have it and I can't even imagine how it fells to be that sick.

Have you seen the latest LP video? Talking to myself? My fave song on this album. Seems like a perfect goodbye from Chester. It was released a couple hours prior his death.

Well the whole album is light when it comes to music, but the titles and the lyrics are depressing. But when you look at the whole Linkin Park discografy, most of their song were heavy and depressed. I wonder what they'll do now. Will they continue or not. His death left a lot of unfinished business...

Reasons that I only have the equivalent of two full beers a year there.  What makes me super uncomfortable is this trendy mommy wine culture.

I don't know if it was good self-awareness or luck that despite being the daughter of an alcoholic, I managed to not marry one and not become one.

The Dane too.  I've given up on him ever utilizing the basket properly.

Ya I noticed that wine trend too

Mini-B., and to a lesser extent Mrs. T-B., are similar, sigh man.

Of course, while we were gone, Mrs. T-B. went on a cleaning binge, rare but happens man.

Some of it was needed, granted man.

However, she nearly threw out Dead Aunt T-B.'s framed university diploma, rescued by us man.

She did throw out items that we had earmarked for donation promptly upon our return, grrr man.

We went unmitigated intestinal-waste-of-simians on her, lose it we man.

She took umbrage, clueless she even after Many years of marriage man.

She still hasn't internalized that we dislike surprises and unexpected change more than anything else in life, ADD she man.

I can't stand stuff being in the house. If the Hillbilly doesn't hurry up and take it to the thrift stores. Then I toss it too.

OMG Tbone how on earth does one even think of hitting thrift stores on vacation or GS!?!

Re suicide when you have kids:

You unequivocally feel that they, everyone around you, really would be better without you around.  That people would be happier without you messing up their lives and causing unhappiness.

I truly do not feel his, nor chris cornell's suicides were planned events until it happened.  Perhaps there was a fight with a bandmate or their spouse. Who knows? Sometimes people commit suicide when they're at a good point too and feel it start to fall.  No one wants to be in the pits of depression. It varies by person but I know the feeling about how everyone would just be happier without you especially your children who wouldn't have a ###### up parent.  It takes a lot to pull out of that pit of despair.

Also some depression meds can make the feelings worse vs better.  It's a hard thing when your brain won't work properly and you can't seem to fix it.
