Oh -- we now blearily report that our rental jalopy was a Cadillac XTS, long story of how we got it man.

We would never voluntarily own one of those useless crates, no man.

The infernal thing kept doing what IT wanted to do and not what WE wanted it to do, si and no and grrrRRRR man.

 

For example, see man:

1.  We would close one door on one side, and unless we sprinted to the door on the other side, jalopy would lock itself, grrr man.

2.  EVERY time we restarted the engine, the driver's seat would move all the way back* & the left mirror would drop all the way,* grrr man.

 

*We even stopped at a GM dealership, where a mechanic couldn't even figure out the resets discussed in the victim's owner's manual, no man.

 

Many.  The dratted thing requires one to step on the brake before the jalopy will start, grrr man.**

 

**How does this enable one to cool off a hot car by reaching in to turn the ignition and turn on the air conditioning, huh man?

 

Many.  Despite consulting the manual, we could not get the blasted radio off Sirius XM and onto regular AM, silence man.

 

We had the infernal manual on our lap for the first 2 days of the trip, grrrRRRR man.

As payback, we drove the devil out of the thing and put over Many miles on it, kill Avis' resale value man.

Safety feature so a mini-B sized child will not inadvertently turn the car on.

 

 

My car has a similarly annoying feature: the remote-start shuts off when you open a door, so that children can't climb into a running car unattended.

Our truck locks the doors when you remote start it, very annoying if you aren't the one with the 🔑

1.  Possible because little fingers like to punch buttons, but why not have a real key with a remote, huh man?

2.  The manufacturers (or, more likely, bureaucrats) always know what's best for us, grrr man.

1.  Our Impala remote-starts after one hits the "lock doors" button twice immediately before, with unlocking available immediately thereafter at the owner's taste, sensible man.

Another trip-rant, see and grrr man:

At last hotel (otherwise the nicest that we booked), we laid down in bed and almost immediately experienced completely up-plugged nasal sinuses with associated cough, ENT issues man.

 

Each morn, said symptoms resolved rapidly after we arose, upright we man.

 

The first 2 nights, we attributed this to the air conditioning blowing directly on us, set on high fan speed man.

The Many'rd night, we set the fan speed to low, presumed solution man.

However, we were more miserable than ever, legitimately tormented we man.

We popped an allergy tablet, no effect man.

We took a "knockout" pain pill, no effect man.

We were coughing so much that we feared disturbing contiguous neighbors, worry we man.

 

We finally spread some of our clothes over the pillows and got half + half-of-half an hour of sleep, sheesh man.

And this was right before having to arise at half-of-half till Many (2+2) a.m. for a 2-hour drive to the airport, great timing man.

 

We wonder what the dickens was going on, first time for such an experience man.

HD are having a laugh with their schedules, employed to do 20hrs and they give me 14 spread over 4 days - I am not impressed and seriously reconsidering how much I want to put up with to establish a US employment history
