I almost read this in the voice of one of my relatives, but changed it to "Hes gone t' the range to do summat with the sights getting ready for a shooting competition on at the weekend"

Almost perfect.

Oops, put the t' in the wrong place there.

Just think if your ancestors woulda came on the Mayflower, there woulda been a "New Nottinghamshire" in America....

Or even worse, North Nottinghamshire, and South Nottinghamshire.....

In my head, it is in a sort of Northwestern Yorkshire accent.  I find it weirdly comforting.  The very first thing I thought of when I heard my husband on Skype was that he sounded like my grandfather, like home.   I have strange feelings about the place and the people - I think because it was the first place I went where I looked like I belonged.  For me as an American, there is this weird disconnect between with the land that I've yet to rectify.  It feels different when you can just stand in a graveyard where centuries of your relatives have been buried.

I'm waxing nostalgic here.  There are reasons we didn't move to the UK despite being able to meet the requirements.

Hey New York is short and sweet, it's easy for a second grader to spell!

Nova Scotia, is cool-sounding....

I wonder how many people who live in Mississippi can't spell it?  Enquiring minds want to know.

Wow lots happened today.

Nola I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your mother isn't too hard on herself.

Steve glad you mom is doing well.

Cdneh - What the heck is going on at that place. how the heck did they not know any of that stuff. This blows my mind and one of many reasons I will never work as a nurse here.

Trudi Thanks for not posting that  picture. I almost packed up and went home one day when we first moved here. I hate these spiders, hate is not even a strong enough word to describe it.

I'm not a fan of the snakes here either. Our cat got bit a few years ago it got all infected and needed a visit to the vets. The cicadas are noisy but I will take them over the other two. Oh wait heck these roaches are freaking creepy and really wish they would drop off the face of the earth with the spiders.

It has become a game on road trips to spot the English names on road signs, my favorite combination so far is not English but Climax Julian ( there were a series and I can't remember them all but we were in fits)

They both have a similar burr to them, differences obviously but not hard like some :)

We finally finished the corn at 11 last night, I think I could quite happily never see another corn cob 👀

My whole basement was overrun with them when we moved in.  I don't mind a few house spiders because they kill other bugs, but these were scary looking and there were just too many.  I decimated their population with a spider killer spray, the bottom of a shoe, and a vacuum.

I don't know what the deal is this year, but we have a lot less mosquitos and a ton less yellow jackets.  We do, on the other hand, have a bumble bee nest.  They love the veggie garden.

Our place was empty for awhile before the Hillbilly bought it. It became bug central i swear. That or the previous owners lived like slobs. *(that's my vote by the looks of things)  He bombed the house but he should have did it a few more times and under the crawl space and attic. I would do it again if we didn't have birds and other little critters that it would kill.

I'm sure the uncleanliness was a part of it.  Also in the basement was animal poop.
