My my aunt on palliative care regained consciousness yesterday, I don't know if I should be feeling hopeful or not.

 

Today is Home Depot interview, it's raining ☔️.

Do not pay her bills, do not ,make any sort of agreement with them. If you start they will hound you even more. Tell them to loose your number and call her directly. I'd start looking into her bank and see if she did actually get cleaned out by theft. Then start managing her money regardless.

Don't do it. Heck the women is 83 they can't hound her as long as they can and will continue to hound you after she passes. 

 Oh yes the chickens come out of the nest boxes ### happy and proud.

Can you believe I actually left TSC without chicks on Sat!?! I have at least one more rooster from the last 6 babies. I already rehomed 2 boys out of that group and one more turned out to be a boy and I suspect at least 1 more is a rooster another we are kind of hoping it's a girl. It's possible we may end up with 1 girl out of 6.

If they call again tell them you that you aren't her and they have the wrong cell number and you'll report them if it keeps happening.

 

Until you are legally in charge of her finances, don't fret it.  Change her personal phone number.

This.  I was still dealing with them after my father passed and they missed the window to make a claim on the estate.  I reported them because they wouldn't quit.

Redneck didn't get into any conversation with them just said he wasn't her & they had the wrong number. It is kind of a blessing in disguise because now we know she isn't managing her finances and are looking at how we can get control as she isn't going to hand it over willingly

That's going to be the hard bit. She's going to have to be declared incompetent, or willingly hand it over.

I know and I don't see her being declared incompetent, if you talk to her she has all her marbles, she is either forgetting her bills or choosing not to pay them, either way she has got through $2000 in the last month so we need to have a serious conversation with her

That's going to be a difficult conversation.

 Even if she knows she's in over her head, which she may not do, she won't want to admit there's a problem.

I work for a pension fund and I see this happen way too often. In some cases, they don't have family or they have one that only wants to steal their money. Either way, it's heart breaking; especially to those whose mind is not entirely gone and they don't want to let go control.

I hope she is open to the help. Otherwise, guardianship or conservatorship may be something to consider.

 

Best wishes with this situation. It can be very stressful for all parties involved.

I had a big fight with tiff. We were coming to the hospital, all the way three she was like, "I can't stay long I can't stay long"

I'm like, can you at least pretend you give a #### about my mother? You'd want me to visit your folks if they were in the hospital right? It's called compassion. It's called family.  I'm having a tough time doing everything already, can you at least not get on my nerve and make everything worse? 

She kept throwing a fit, I said just don't come. I ended dropped her off before coming to the hospital.

No. I never knew how that feels. 

But there's an old lady all by herself, and I'm the closest thing she has to a son...

Her daughter isn't here, her sister is in Cali. And as far my my kids know, grandma is in the hospital. 

So, I'm it. And I get no support, emotionally or physically...

That's the story of my whole life. In 1 paragraph.

Choosing when and how much to support the people we love is some of the toughest decision making we face. If we had unlimited resources the answers would be always and however much is needed.

 

I was fortunate a year ago when my father had his last bout in the hospital before dying a few months later. I took off from work and flew up to Seattle to see him and care for him as he transitioned from hospital back to his assisted living apartment. It was tough leaving him after only 1 week but my wife volunteered to take off from school and be with him for a 2nd week, as I went back to work. As a result, she has fond memories of old Tony, even though he was an 84 year old cantankerous s.o.b.
