2 years is the limit in the healthier economies. 

Maybe your municipality is cutting them a break for being economically deprived? 

There's a sure way of making sure that no one will ever buy your property in a tax auction. 

Deed-restrict the #### out of it, making totally useless to any potential owner. Such as, no vegetable gardens, no raising pigs, etc...

 

Add your kids as "lifetime tenants" on the deed.
