I suspect that all extra hay in this part of the state is getting shipped westwards on account of the drought, so no spare hay bales round here.

They've even been trucking some out to western North Dakota from around your neck of the woods.

In the process of trying to figure out the actual size of our lot without having it surveyed.  Its a small rectangle, I feel like this might be unnecessary.  The information when we bought the house that was listed on the ad was about 3000 sq ft less than the county map or my crude measurements have indicated.  Then again they also listed the house at something like 1100 sq ft bigger than it actually is.    Our house has so many juts outwards and not an easy to measure side in sight that I did some calculations based on the renovation blueprints from the 1940s.

If the lot is as big as I think it is, we won't need a lot coverage variance to do an addition.  Since we might need a setback variance, this is probably a good thing. We are going to try our best to not have to do that either.

Wow man that's a small lot for where you are.

Even my NYC lot is 2500 sq.

You mean 25,000?

Actually our lot is twice the size of many in our neighborhood.  We have 1.5 original lots, whereas some of our neighbors only have half of an original lot.

Ours is somewhere north of 10k.  The minimum for brand new lots is 8.

Remember way back how I mentioned that this part of the country has kind of a Scandinavian layout....a bunch of houses really close together surrounded by fields?  It is something I like.

Ours is 4 acres...on the side of a mountain so not much useable land, it's mostly forest.

You have to give HAD marks for persistence, they still won't believe I'm not going back, refused to take back the apron of Doom or my locker and every manager that I saw today reminded me I have a whole year to come back!

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

I would have thought that yours would have been bigger.

In any case, it seems ours will be fine to do our 1200 sq ft addition.  Now we just need some estimates on how much it will cost.

It's all front yar and hill in the back.  Lol We're on the wrong side of the cul-de-sac.  We couldn't do an addition unless we built vertically.  We probably will do a deck out the back one day though.  But honestly our home is an entire floor too big for us. The basement wasnt necessary.

With the just the two of you, yeah you've got plenty of house.  We need the addition if we go ahead with having my mother live in it for part of the year.  She'll have a separate apartment above the garage with her own living room, kitchen, and laundry.  That's the only way I could manage living in the same house.
