Judges & lawyers always make a big deal about the importance of jury duty as "civic responsibility," etc. man.

Conversely, we have never known, met, or heard of any real person who thinks this way, no man.

"Jury duty" ranks just above "colonoscopy" in terms of desirable activities, gross man.

Probably the only people who desire jury duty are blue-haired, busybody biddies who serve on Homeowners' Association boards, grrr man.

I've been busy! I got my DNA results back from Ancestry.com and learned that I am only 56% Scandinavian. Wonder if I can still call myself Swedish :P Thanks to the DNA results I may or may not have found a relative who lives in NC. I also realized I probably have a ton of relatives in both the US and Canada which is pretty fascinating. Distant relatives of course but still.

I've been going through my dads huge binders full of ancestry stuff and I am now going to start checking how much of it he actually put up on Ancestry.com.

I've read somewhere that women need to have their father get the test done or it only reveals the maternal side of the family. Maybe that is part of the reason why you're seeing 56%

Hmm that is not right. Only USC are to be called for Jury Duty. Heck that alone can get you in a world of trouble during the N400

Ok I looked it up NC like everywhere else does not allow PR to do Jury Duty they state it's for USC only.  Like everywhere else they probably pick the list from the DMV and it's just random, PR are to reply back saying they are not USC and send a copy of their card. I hope you have never been called or know another PR who has and served as that is  a world of trouble.

You know the LDS Church uses that information to baptize the dead, right?

I've been thinking about getting the DNA test done but I'm pretty certain that it will tell me what I already know: that I'm 25% each of Irish, British (whatever admixture that is), Dutch, and German.   I'm cool with being a mutt.  My ex in-laws were talking about it when they visited last, turns out with the test that my ex-husband is part Danish rather than part Dutch.  My daughter is a super mutt thought being a mix of both of us.  I think it is a good thing too.

I did it because on ancestry.com if you have built a tree and you do the DNA test you can match with other members so I am in contact with at least one person who I might be related to.

So far I can't figure out where the British or Irish genes are from so yeah, maybe I am related to some Vikings who brought some people back from over there lol.

Ooh now that is good news. I know a LPR who was called and a quick google search said LPR can be called - I didn't look to see if you actually could serve

Our house of 4 adults had 2 called in the last batch (not me) so hopefully we'll be good for a while...

Its ☔️

we have visitors coming who are having to stay in a motel because MIL has so much stuff, she said this morning ' they can sleep in my room and I'll sleep in the other room'

No normal adult could get to the bed, never mind put an overnight bag down anywhere in the room (this is our guest room that we were so pleased with when we got it done last year) :( She cannot see that she has a problem and it's driving me nuts :(

edit it to add - she is currently sat n the lounge reading the phone book out loud.....and giggling away
