I can report that there is no bottled water to be found round here ( possibly because a lot of it is in my house...), no bread, gas is in short supply and the girl in the gas station yesterday was saying they are running out of cigarettes too & im told there's been a brisk trade in the ABC store - there is lots of canned foods, meat, veg and cases of pop still in the stores.

 

The mountain folk are pretty laid back about Irma, they're used to falling trees, no power and being cut off in rain/snow (having a good stock of food is the norm round here)

For a while there I was kicking myself for owning a compact car that we bought when gas was above $4 a gallon, for it only to drop below $2 the next year.

 

I'm sure gas prices will go back down again.  Although, it would be better for the ND economy if they went back up.

And naturally, food prices will go up. I think it takes... 0.8 gallons of gas to produce 1 gallon of milk.

I wish Irma could pick her route and stick to it, some say it'll miss us completely and some say we're getting a beating - ''tis very confusing for me, never been anywhere near a hurricane before & would quite like to keep it that way...

We forgot to mention that we got our hairs cut on Friday, shorn we man.

Swung by 2-Mexicana shop as usual, cheapest man.

They'd been closed all week, undetermined but presumed reasons man.

Small shop was mobbed with customers of all ages, should have expected it man.

 

Went to predominantly-black shop of yore, many moons absent we man.

Price had gone up to $Many -- yes, $Many -- in the interim, grrr man.

We nevertheless got our hairs cut by one of our previous guys, good job man.

However, we shall probably not return, outrageous inflation man.
