Sometimes I have to keep myself from making funny faces at people in the gym.  Either due to clothes choices or excercises.  Honestly that big gold chain isn't helping you here... please don't accidentally strangle yourself!

There is not a single generator left in any home depot in Georgia, South & North Carolina - we had folks drive in from Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina to pick reserved ones up today.

Don't bother looking for sand or plywood either.

Plenty of water tho and Walmart had fully stocked shelves last night...

Today is the 117th anniversary of the worst 'cane of all time, sigh man...

Day off today, will be spent getting as ready as we can for the storm, chainsaws here I come - taking down some weaker trees and cutting back as much as possible elsewhere 

Gassing up everything, already have cases of water but am getting a supply of canned goods, we have propane so should be ok for cooking and wood stove for heat.

The 4 wheeler is set up with the winch and drag chains.

We are expecting to lose power as that's usual up here in the mountain so have a stock of battery packs and batteries.

Dont know what else we can do, I'd pray for it to change direction but that would just put other people in our place

Sporadic communication (typical) with the youngest sister. She got back to Canada with her little party Wednesday night. Yesterday at 16:30 my time, the last they had heard from one of the tenant's husband's was that it was windy and raining a bit.

Today, her brother in law in Ontario has posted to her FB wall on her behalf,  to say a tenant who went to a shelter says people there are ok, and he thinks the guys at the house are too, although he's had no communication with them .

No like everyone else it's one of those things we keep saying we'll get but don't.

 

Water is spring fed so we don't need power except to warm it up & if needed we can do that on the stove

 

Apparently my brain has gone mad, I came in to grab a drink and washed the floors and dusted too 🙄

More from the sister. She says the guys are ok, and that the property has sustained a lot of damage. She didn't elaborate.

Hello all! Long time no posting!

 

Hope everyone is doing well and those bound to be affected by Irma are ready or have been able to evacuate.

 

We need to buy a generator too. As Trudi said, it's just one of those things.... We've talked about buying one and then forget about once the possible need for it goes away.
