Her Husband and her Daughters Husband are staying behind. I hope that wasn't a grave mistake. It looks very bad in that area. She says they are prepared as they can be, but I don't know how you do that in the face of such a large storm.

 

I'm glad that they fully evacuated.  Hurricanes can be so scary on a small island.  I hope it doesn't end up being a tragedy.

Eeek, I just read this on the NYT:  "Devastating storm surges were expected to put parts of Turks and Caicos and the southern islands of the Bahamas 15 to 20 feet underwater on Thursday."  I hope they are sheltering up high.

I randomly bought 14lbs of pears today at the local market for $9.  We're going to be eating a lot of pears.

They live on a ridge of land meant to be the highest point. Out of the water, but worse in the wind I would think.  This is their house, the photo was taken from a plane when they were looking at places.They rent four of the townhouses, they live in two of them, and they run a restaurant there as well

Not really possible at the moment.   But, in general, I don't gain weight that way...I'm more of an apple or hourglass gainer depending.

 

I'm probably one of the very few women, who not matter how much weight they gain when pregnant, never needs maternity pants.  All the weight goes right to my upper body.

Work is in full emergency preparedness preparation, they are expecting major storms to hit and are digging out all the protocols - this has consisted of printing a small forest of manual receipt forms and oodles of instructions for staff, all staff have been given a card to complete with their details and emergency contact information - cos obviously if a hurricane hits town I'm heading to work....

If the hurricane itself doesn't do the job, the spin-off tornadoes will, pessimistic we man.
