Probably bad news, sigh man.

Tried to go visit the rental casa, see we man.

First route barricaded, reverse path man.

Try to approach from back way, streets flooded far from it, reverse path man.

Try to approach from final way, streets flooded far from it, give up & go home man.

 

Renters evacuated on Fri. or Sat., bye man.

They left their cat in the garage "with an open bag of food," blasted idiots man.

They also deadbolted the front door, we can't get in man.

We fully expect to find a completely flooded casa and a drowned cat, luck run out man.

If we didn't have a dishwasher, we'd be using paper plates, plastic cups, etc.  The amount of dishes we generate is ridiculous.

You don't have keys to the deadbolt?  Just break in, it is your property after all.

 

Just saw the news out of Port Arthur with the nursing home in water for 24 hours - things could be worse, eh man?

Not going to break in, no man.  Cops would probably arrest us, charged we man.

Mama T-B. & other relatives born in Port Arthur, family history man.  Sad for PA & Beaumont, flooding now man.

 

Talked to former neighbors who lived next door to us at the r-casa, history man.

Husband bicycled through water to inspect their casa, intrepid he man.

In front, water only halfway up yard at worst and now receded to city sidewalk, good news man.

A little water got in from back, probably early from heavy rain, laminate flooring man.

Conversely, r-casa carpeted throughout, uh-oh man.

And drainage in back not great even with French drain, uh-oh man.

And French-drain outlet almost certainly water-covered since the outset, uh-oh man.

We fear what we might find upon entry (if we can ever enter), sigh man.

Nola not only does my husband leave the dishes in the sink, he flat out refuses to use the dishwasher and calls it disgusting.  Which would be fine, if he DID the friggin dishes!

 

On a side note he will do them if I leave them on a saturday or sunday and leave the house for the day.  

 

And like the hillbilly, my hubs (who consequently looks like a viking right now) tends to make up to me when I've gotten annoyed.  For example, today i hear his chime on the phone.. i said, with a little sigh, what do you want and look at the msg.  Msg says love you.  Makes me smile and regret my sigh.

Dishwasher is disgusting?  I don't see how it is any different than doing batches of dishes in the sink.  I've come back from trips before to find the dishes piled up in the sink.  Like, he knows I am coming back that day and can't even pretend that he was doing them all along.  My guy roommates used to be gross like this too.  Men, smh.

 

In viking related news, finally saw some pics of the Dane's long lost brother (they used to live together at some point).  Dude looks more like a viking than mine, he's even got the longer hair.  Seriously, I'm dead over the fact it looks like he walked out of the set of the Vikings show.   I spent nearly a week trying to convince the Dane to get a man-bun since his brother could pull it off.

Hubs has the beard going and his hair is about 3-4" long on just the top so he is slicking it back. 

 

So hubs wants this stupid little keyboard for his raspberry pii n64 emulator.  Sure but why in the ever loving F are you going to buy the 2nd most expensive one? Exact same item sold by another company, also is amazon prime, is $7 less! When we're broke, $7 is a lot! Thats like 3 jugs of milk!

Nice. The little things really do make a difference.

 

The Colombiana is back home visiting her mother and brother for 10 days. Today at work I got the text chime from my phone and it says.. "I miss you." That was nice to get. Oh, and she really does have nice friends here locally. I contacted one this morning to see if she could take care of the pup while I go out adventuring for the weekend with a buddy. She replied, "No problem!"

Difference is, dishwasher re-heats the hot water to around 190 degrees. 

And it kills much more bacteria than you can in a sink, because you can't hand wash dishes with 190 degree water. Too hot. 

In fact, your household water heater is probably set to about 160. 

So, dishwasher wins.
