I just heard this and need to locate some reference to it. It was brought to my attention by a VJ Pal that there is a change about to take place and/or has taken place where the Embassy interviews are going to be scheduled by the NVC directly and Beneficiary will be mailing any checklist to the NVC for the appointment. I found this hard to believe, but if anyone has information to the contrary, please post it ASAP.

Thanks

etropke,

The NVC already schedules the immigrant visa interviews for some countries. It would not be surprising if they were to expand that role and take over scheduling for more countries as time goes on.

Great (NOT) The Kyiv Embassy just changed last week to a call center for appointment scheduling (sounds similar to London basing it on $12 for 8 minutes to call them). I'm sure this will add more time to the process then given they'll have to handle more of them. The Kyiv Embassy has NOTHING indicating this just that they are now using the call center as of April 10th.

Hello, I heard the same thing from the lady that help me with my application (Notary Public) I called the USCIS office and they did not have an answer for me. If anyone know for wich countries they are doing this please let me know? mine is Dominican Republic. Also the lady told me that this is the reason why USCIS is taking so long and that is the reason they haven't move for the I130 for the last 8 month and still on 03/12/06. She said that it was only for the I130 and not for the I129f.

Thanksssss

YOCASTA,

Of course the USCIS office does not have an answer for you. The NVC and consulates are Department of State, not Department of Homeland Security. USCIS has nothing to do with it.

JK,

Point of clarification: that information is for immigrant-visa applicants. It does not apply to K-visa applicants.

My wife picked up her visa today at the embassy in Bogota, Gracias a Dios, and I had her ask them about the fact you are now sending in the documentation to the NVC instead of the embassy and they would not answer her question. I think it was more a fact that they were only interested in giving out the visas and nothing else. I will tell you this makes perfect sense to me for the NVC to collect the documentation. I see it as a positive step in speeding up the process of getting an interview quicker. There were so many people sent away last Thursday at the embassy I could not help but think of all the people who are ready but waiting because of all the unprepared people that have interviews. This will stop. For those of you who are caught in the change I feel bad for you but in the long run I see this as a positive step. You have the documents, you send them in and then when you prove you are ready they schedule you. It will also make the day at the embassy shorter. We were let in at 7:00 am and spent the first two hours dealing with the documents now being sent to the NVC. In the long run it means more interviews scheduled in less time. I am not sure if this is why they are doing but i saw 20-25% of the applicants sent away for not having all of their documents in their folders. Truly a waste of valuable time for those who are prepared. Again for those caught in the change, this has no saving grace for you but for those following I look for a little quicker process. Any one else seen this at the embassy? We actually talked with some of the people so know for sure why they were sent home.

yes you are correct Yodrak, it would be for immigrant visas, I checked what type of visas people were scheduled for the day we were at the embassy and they were all CR1, CR2 and I think F2 visas.

Thanks JK!

My husband decided to make the trip to Bogotá from Tuluá to get everything from the DAS and his vacs as well. He'll be making the 8 hour bus trip (right now we pooh! ^_^ and can't afford to fly there just to run that errand) and have all the DAS documents as well as his birth certificate translated so I can have them in my hand by the time we're approved.
