Hello everyone, I am looking for opinions on my K-1Visa Application. I've noticed the visa guide on Visa Journey does not seem to be updated. If somebody could answer the following questions for me I would greatly appreciate it.

  1. Is Form G-325a still required?
  2. Is passport style photos for both parties still required?
  3. Do all documents included need to be signed and dated by both parties

Here are the items included in my application.

  • Table of Contents
  • Payment
  • Form G-1145
  • Form I-129f
    • Supplement question 54
  • Petioner's documents
    • Copy of Passport
    • Copy of Birth Certificate
    • Copy of Driver's License
  • Beneficiary's documents
    • Copy of Passport
    • Copy of Birth Certificate
    • Copy of Driver's License
  • Fiancee leter of intent
  • Proof of having met in the last 2 years
  • Proof of relationship for beyond 2 years
  • Proof of daily communication (whats app screenshots, phonecalls, etc.)
  • Engagement ring receipt
  • A story of how we met and how we got engaged
  • Thank you letter

I would appreciate any comments or tips. Thanks !!

  1. Nope
  2. Yup
  3. Nope
  4. I put the payment on the very top - they're going to look at that before anything else.
  5. I'm not sure why you're providing a copy of the petitioner's passport, birth certificate, and driver's license. Just a copy of the birth certificate is needed (if born in the US) to show proof of USC status. Or just the copy of the passport.
  6. The beneficiary doesn't need to provide a copy of their passport, birth certificate, or license at this stage. The embassy will likely request an original birth certificate for the interview, as well as she will need to provide her original passport for the visa.
  7. You're missing the beneficiary's letter of intent to marry. Both the petitioner and beneficiary need to provide one.
  8. Thank you letter isn't needed.

Thanks for answering my questions.

Where do you place the passport photos?

I wrote the name on the back of each photo, put them in a plastic bag, and taped the plastic bag to a sheet of paper labeled "Passport style photos". Maybe it's not the most elegant option, but it was accepted fine.

Check your regional forum to find out if front loading (ongoing relationship stuff) is beneficial or not. (I feel sorry for the poor guy/girl on the other side having to go through tons of evidence :D) Also read the instructions on the I129F again. If I'm not mistaken there is something about having to include copies of all passport pages when the petitioner uses it (that was the main reason we went for her birth certificate.

I went for the minimal approach. Provided what was required by the form and had the additional stuff, people suggested, with me for my interview. My philosophy is that you can sent too much info.

Just double checking. You wrote....

  • Fiancee leter of intent

Make sure you have a letter of intent for each of you. One from you, one from your fiance. Both need inked signatures (not faxed, emailed, etc). This cannot be a single letter signed by the both of you.

This is the absolute largest reason for RFE I see in the RFE thread, and since you said "letter", I jump to action!

Every time you're gathering evidence for this, look at each piece and say to yourself "does this prove we met in the past 2 years". If it does - add it. If it doesn't... leave it out.
