No interview for AOS????

Hello everyone, 

I'm filing for my AOS and I saw that some people get an interview and some others don't. Is there anything that I can do to reduce the chance of getting an interview?

No there's nothing you can do, it's random.

If you're filing AOS as a K-1 recipient, you probably won't have an interview. Still can, though.

 

Just fill out the forms completely, provide all documents, and provide sufficient evidence of a bona fide marriage (which will be on the lighter side if you just got married...you can send relationship evidence too).

If you want this completed as fast as possible, often having an interview is quicker than having the interview waiver, for whatever reason. So having an interview is not entirely negative.

I see you're in San Gabriel just like me, your field office is fairly fast (most get their interviews within 7 months right now). Many others wait for a year or more for their interviews or interview waivers.

Interviews are a normal part of the process.

You should welcome an interview.  Approval process is faster because fewer people get interviewed.

I'm not sure why people are so scared of interviews, especially those who live just 15 minutes from the actual office, like OP. The vast majority of AOS interviews for those who arrive on a K-1 only take 20-30 minutes (ours took 20 minutes at the Los Angeles County field office where 10 of those were interview and the other 10 were regular small talk). It's absolutely nothing to worry about.

That's only true in some cases - when NBC approves directly it is often faster than any interview, as for me.

Yeah my wife got an interview notice for down in Los Angeles when we were doing AOS. She was really worried about the interview, but the interview was a piece of cake really. We just had to go down to the Federal Building down in downtown LA.

We just completed the roc and we had no interview for either process. Total time for my wife and daughters to get 2 year and 10 year gc was 3 years 5 months. We provided everything they asked received no rfes and no interviews. Totally random on the interviews.

Dear, I really understand why people get nervous about the interview...in the end of the day it's someone that you never saw in your life that's going to decide to believe if your marriage is valid or not, I mean, we get nervous for a job interview, why wouldn't you get nervous with a person just like you deciding if the love of your life is really the love of your life or not?

I know that most of the people applying for a AOS through marriage do not have as much time in to the relationship as I do (it's almost 7 years since we meet online and 5 and a half years since we saw each other in person for the first time, almost 3 years living together)...but I'm nervous about the interview. Probably shouldn't, but I am!
