Hello!

Please help. I have an upcoming embassy interview this august.

I know that my petitioner (my mom) needs to provide me with the necessary financial documents that she put in her affidavit of support.

Now for my problem:

My petitioner's 3 recent years of income

she put 2015, 2014, and 2013. She can support these with w2 forms, ITR and transcript.

Now in her "my current" income. which is 2016 (the time she filed the affidavit to nvc)

She declared an amount there but she can't provide the W2 form and ITR since she was self employed at that time.

My questions:

1. will the consul see this as a ground for rejection of my visa?

2. the affidavit of support form says it will expire this july 30, 2017. but my embassy interview will be aug 2017.

ofcourse the affidavit is filed last year when the nvc contacted us that our turn is up.

3. does she needs to provide for 2017 current ITR and income documents?

since she sent the nvc 2013 to 2015 hence we got an interview date as the nvc approves of the docs she sent.

4. If the NVC approved the documents my mom sent. Does this mean it will be approved in my embassy as well?

Thank you for your kind help and responses.

1. Will the consul see this as a ground for rejection of my visa?

A letter from the employer stating the current income can help. Also have a new I-864 with 2017 income filled out and available for CO to review if necessary. As for 2016, a transcript for taxes

    filed will certainly help.

2. the affidavit of support form says it will expire this july 30, 2017. but my embassy interview will be aug 2017.

As long as the AOS form was current at the time of filing, you do not need to worry. You will be fine.

3. does she needs to provide for 2017 current ITR and income documents?

Yes you should always have the most current income available as I mention in answer to question 1 above

 .

4. If the NVC approved the documents my mom sent. Does this mean it will be approved in my embassy as well?

While there can be no guarantee what the CO determines, as long as the originals match the copies submitted to the NVC you shoud be OK

I hope my mom can provide this, as during this time. It was a hard time for my mom so she was doing a self-employed job.  You said that "certainly help" so it's not a requirement? it will just help?

Does the 2013-2015 financial documents will be sufficient enough to satisfy the consul?

Thanks

I asked a similar question here on VJ and a senior VJ'r advised it will be a requirement. Sorry for not being more clear :(

Hi,

I had my interview in April and also been worrying about same q, as my petitioner was self-employed and NVC had only 2013-2015 tax returns. I asked petitioner to send me updated I-864 and tax returns for 2016 just to be prepared in case you'll be asked for it, but during interview consul didn't ask, said, that they already have it, but it doesn't mean that they won't ask you, especially, that it'll be already August. So my advice, get updated I-864 and tax return photocopy for 2016, bring that to the interview in case you'll be asked to avoid further delay.

Good luck!

lain i have a follow up question. you said that the consul told you they already have what? the updated ITR of 2016? they you send your updated in nvc? Because my petitioner only required her 2013-2015.

Thank you:)

I didn't send updated documents to NVC. During interview Consul said, that already have all financial docs, it was 2013-2015 tax returns and I-864 form, which I sent in 2016. She didn't require updated info and 2016 taxes, but my interview was on 18th of April and after 15th of April better be prepared to submit updated taxes if you'll be asked for it at the time of interview. Btw, guys who had their interview on May and June also wasn't asked to submit 2016 taxes.

I had my interview early July 2017 for F1 visa.  When I submitted the supporting documents on Jan 2017, I submitted the w-2 and 2013-2015 tax returns.  I also brought with me a copy of the 2016 tax returns and w-2 with me during the interview in case they request for it.  They did not ask so it's still with me.  Better to bring it in case they request for it.

It's good, that you answered honestly. I don't think, that it'll be an issue, that you have tried it while being a teenager. The most important, that you are not using it now and not going to do that in the future.

thank you for keeping my hopes up lain. I have scheduled next thurs for psychiatrist interview, because of that. So I will stick to my statement. Yes i have stop trying after that and i'm 32 yrs old now.

i have created another thread about what happened. usually people there says that they will give me 1 year of visa ban but still i will be immigrant. 1 year is big deal for me.. do you think that is the probable outcome?

but i will keep in mind about what you said that it will not be an issue. thank you again lain.

Yes, stick to your statement, only try to explane it simple and not making a big crime of it. Make sure, that this happened long time ago, while you were a teenager and that you just tried a bit of it once, out of curiosity together with other kids and never repeated again.

It's all depends on the consul at the time of interview(you are never sure for 100%, that everything will be well, even if you are very well prepared), but my advice is, be honest, make it simple, show your good tests and you'll be fine.
