So, the answer is: It depends on what stage the case is at.

1-If the AOS  is pending with USCIS, the petitioner can usually submit a signed, notarized letter to the location where the case is pending advising that he/she wishes to withdraw the AOS, type on the letter your USCIS recipt, NVC case number, your husband name, birthday and the petitioner name and birthday.

2-If the AOS has already been approved and the matter is pending with the National Visa Center (NVC), the petitioner should, as above, notify NVC, that he/she wishes to withdraw the underlying petition.

just send a letter to USCIS expaning that you dont want continue with the process and cancel the process before get approved.

you can cancel the process without divorce, file for divorce.

i mean that yyou can send the letter for canel the petitio while file for divorce, you dont need be divorced for cancel the AOS.

once you get divorce certificate then send the divorce certificate.

True, but some people have no idea about the AOS and think that the work permit is automatic.  That's why I ask.

k1s usually have an interview waiver so I'd pull the AOS/i864 asap
