Hi,

Submitted I-601 April 2015 in New York and still pending. I read that it takes 4-6 months to get an answer.

Did a letter inquiry in Dec 2016 and they got a letter saying they will reply in 3 months. No word so far. Lawyer says there is nothing we can do but wait.

Is 27 months unheard of regarding an I-601? I looked at the AAO Processing stats and 86% of I-601 are completed within 180 days.

I checked processing center and I believe it is Vermont. However, checked processing times for different applications and I-601 was not listed. Checked Nebraska office and they were now processing I-601 from people who submitted in July 2016. Texas and California offices are processing applications from Jan 2017.

Does Vermont office process I-601?

What else can I do to check on the status?

I have asked the lawyer several times but all they say is there is nothing they can do.

I am not confident with this lawyer as they have made some dubious decisions regarding the case and they took years to decide on one strategy for the waiver after suggesting different options that went nowhere.

Also, the intern who delivered our I-601 application to the lockbox noticed the case # was written incorrectly. Not sure if the interviewing agent or lawyer made the mistake.  Thank god for sharp eyed intern.

First of all all I-601 waivers are processed in Nebraska service center, that is where my was processed, it took 6 months. You need to call or join the waiver part in this form and see. At the moment the waiver is been processed @9 to 10 month,

are u in the USA, if so u can't do I-601 inside USA u have to be out of the country unless is 601A you are talking about

This is the greatest lesson a child can learn. It is the greatest lesson anyone can learn. It has been the greatest lesson I have learned: if you persevere, stick w/it, work @ it, you have a real opportunity to achieve something. Sure, there will be storms along the way. And you might not reach your goal right away. But if you do your best and keep a true compass, you'll get there. Edward M. Kennedy,
