Age requirements for fiance visa

Hi. My fiance is under 21 years of age. Will this affect our eligibility for obtaining a fiance visa? I read somewhere that if someone is under 21 years of age then the parents must give written approval to the U.S. Embassy. Is this only for Brazilian civil weddings or does this also apply for Fiance Visa's where the wedding will take place in America? Thanks for your help.

If your plan is to marry in the US, then the only age requirement is that both be of age to marry here. Foreign marriage requirements are of no concern in issuing a K1 visa. Whatever you read, must have been out of context.

I doubt that,as long as she is over 18 there should not be a problem at all.

If she was under 18 then yes she would need something from her parents,if she does not want to dip her petition in alcohol then you are fine *lol*

I agree, she has to be 18. Between 16 & 18, I'd include a letter from her parents stating they approve/allow the marriage.

Only if you are married in Thailand...the same goes for the Philippines....

Free to marry in the jurisdiction where the marriage will occur is the rule. No specific age.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as he gets a co-sponsor. Actually it also depends on the country. For example, Thailand doesn't take co-sponsors for k-1.

...I thought I was the youngest here (20, the petitioner, and my fiance is 21, beneficiary).

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

There is no age requirement. You must be able to marry in the state where you will get married. Genrally that means 18 years old, but it is not specified. Some other countries have age restrictions and in those countries the consulate may require some other sort of permission, but that is specific to that country, not a K-1 requirement.
