If you don't pay her, it's not work.

No. I German teenager visiting family got sent back to Germany at POE because she had offered to babysit her relative's kids if she wanted to go out. Basically, not paid and it seemed something innocent (like, I'm staying in your house for free to practice English, I can help you out). Well, they told that was work and she was sent home. It was on the news.

You should have just save time and check 72635 other threads like yours. It's not the first time someone asks about bringing the family member to work as a nanny. If you're a US citizen you can sponsor your sister, it will take like 10 years. It is a fraud to have your sister come here on the tourist visa and work for you. No matter if you pay her or not. It's still taking the job from the US citizen. And what kind of sibling would want their sister/brother to live illegaly in the USA? The moment your sis start "working" for you her tourist visa would technically get voided. Because she would break the rules of the tourist visa.

Be like million other Americans and hire a nanny or put your kid in the daycare.  It will probably be cheaper than financially supporting your sister when she's in the US illegaly and no one will want to hire her.

I cant afford paying daycare that is the fact nor im allowed to get government help , if you live in the us as lower middle class u will understand the situation.

the suggestion to bring sister is more sheaper , i need her help just for few months to get my budget to balance again .

I though about applying for visa tourist , but i heard its hard to obtain such a visa if the applicant doesnt have almost 20000 in bank account .

On the other hand is to help her to visit the US  she wanted to visit for long time, bytheway she is not staying for good  due to her life back home

It's not cheaper.  Your water bill, electric bill and food bill would increase more than it would cost you to have daycare.  You don't need a nanny.  Look into home daycare.  Your sister cannot work if on a tourist visa as she would be displacing a US citizen from work.  And yes, even if you don't "pay" her she is working which is forbidden.

I'm surprised that people don't seem to realize what's going on here.  Her sister wants to come to the US (OP stated that she only wants to visit but who knows).  Plain and simple.  But OP has trouble finding affordable daycare, so they thought that her sister would have a better shot if it was under the guise of helping with the baby.

Unfortunately, there is no visa for that.  The only option is tourist visa but those are really hard to get because most people who want to come to the US don't have any real ties to their country.  The problem is that she wouldn't be able to work as a nanny, but I don't see any issue with a tourist watching a kid.  If you don't pay her, it's not work.  There was a show I saw on TLC or Discovery and they had an immigration official questioning a guy who came on a tourist visa and he was fixing computers for his "friends".  An his friends "gave him some money".  The IO said that if you take money for something, directly or indirectly, that's considered work.  If you don't get paid, it's not work.

You are so wrong.  They would be supporting her by feeding, housing, clothing her.  Supporting and payinf a salary are the same thing.  A US citizen would not have the job because this "tourist" would be taking the job.  There's no such thing as a free lunch.

So pretty much OP would be supporting both her child and her sister. Yep, definitely not cheaper.

I think OP is just looking for a way to bring her sister to the US without the long sibling visa process. "Taking care of the child" is just trying to justify it.

Hello

is there any one has experience of bringing sister to the US as a nanny? can you tell how it has been done ?

I'm trying to get my sister who is 33 years old divorced, to the US to take care of my child. I can't afford to pay the daycare nor to ask the wife to quit her job, any pieces of advice would be appreciated

Its not possible i guess, as i remember you already sponsored your mom and your mom she already sponsored your brother, why your mom cant she take care of the baby?

So they have more family here than me (and most other immigrants).

It's getting confusing as to whether the sister is wanting to stay or not. OP, you mentioned that if she got a tourist visa she wouldn't stay "because of her life at home" but at the same time you are looking at ways for her to immigrate. Sounds like her life at home is not so important to her after all.

Instead of looking for ways to avoid paying a nanny, how about looking for a better paid job? Your child will thank you for it in the future. Surely you want to give your child the best?
