When sending proof of relationship like messages on messenger does the conversation have to be translated? I know all other documents that aren't in English need to be translated, but my fiancé and I both write each other in our foreign language, French Creole. Do they need to know what we're saying exactly or do they just need to see that we have an ongoing relationship & communicate often? If so, can I just skip using message threads and just use call logs? All help/tips are much appreciated! Thank you 😊

The good thing is you can self translate these and just put a translation certification at the bottom. Pick a few important conversations and translate them. Then add your call logs to prove continuous communication :)

If you decide to translate the chat conversations yourself, here's a sample of the translation certification that you can use:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________
Date

Typed Name
Address

Thank you sooo much !! This is very helpful. I thought all forms had to be professionally translated. This makes everything much more convenient for me.

As long as you are fluent in both languages, you can self-translate the documents for the I-129F petition. I am not 100% sure if you'll need an actual certified translator for the other processes in the future though.

My wife came from Ukraine, so our messages were written in Russian.  The US embassy in Kiev allows documents to be submitted in English, Russian or Ukrainian.  Check with the interviewing embassy about their requirements... they likely will have a translator  on hand that is fluent in the country's native language.

Thank you! This information is very helpful, I was wondering if they would have translators or not at the Embassy in Haiti. Thanks again!
