Good day

I am filling the DS-160 form and I encounter some issues that I need help with.

1. Regarding travel information section,

  • for the question about the person /entity paying your trip, shall Iput SELF or US PETITIONER because?
  • for the question has anyone filled an immigration petition on your behalf with USCIS,shall I put my fiancee and our petition for the K1 visa, in past none filled a petition for me.

2.Regarding family section

  • for the question do you have any immediate relatives, not including parents in the us, shall I put my fiancee as my relative?\\\\\\

3.Regarding work/education/training.

  • for the question primary occupation, I am a PhD student ,shall I put a student or research?
  • for the question have you attend any educational institutions at secondary level or above? shall I put my education diploma before the actual now which is PhD or they are asking for high school diploma?

I compare my answers to the DS-160 filled at the sample immigration forms and it looks that the actual form has new section so I need help and advice.

I really appreciate your prompt help.

thank you

For K-1, it's OK to say the petitioner. Self is fine too.

No for immigration petition.

Yes, put your fiance as a relative.

I personally would put a student because you are in uni.

I'd say your last highest education since you haven't graduated with a PhD yet.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

this question is targeted at people with realtives here that may have added the visa

they want to make sure no relative here paid someone to help you come

I do not understand what you mean can you explain more? on the form it says immediate relatives could be and start with faince/fiancee and they add parents, brother, sisters and etc.so what to put in here?

It is not wrong to list your US fiance as your relative. Other K-1 have noted as such and there was no issue.

If you list your US fiance as a relative, it will prompt to ask his legal status which you will answer US citizen.

finance is not legal relative / they may assume u have alrready married especially in countries that refer to fianance as husband or wife in emails as soon as they decide to marry/ for instance in Ghana one lady had an issue when she sent photos of engagement party and they said at interview THIS IS A MARRIAGE

you will include the finance in household size when you do income papers as finance will be living with you but in application, you are not married and not related

Still what immigration  wants to know with this question is are there any of his/her relatives living in the US that have brokered for a marriage deal to get their relative here.

My RFE made me list all his and all my relatives and addresses (including those of my late husband) and when i called USCIS and asked why as many i have not seen in years, I was told the reason was as stated above and when further questioning i was told finance is not related   this was when i applied K!

If you want to further understand call USCIS but ask for 2nd tier person not the farmed out service that answers all calls

Please find enclosed what immediate relatives says under help section on the right side when filling the DS-160.

in this case I dont think they want to trick me in purpose. they say that immediate relatives not including parents Means fiancé/fiancée, spouse (husband/wife), child (son/daughter), or sibling (brother/sister).

so if I put my fiancee as a immediate relatives is not a mistake.

some people answer me ina different way an dI understand why , just nbecause the forms they filled a time when they were working on their cases is no longer the same today. forms of USCIS and DHS are constantly updated and modified.

I also would like to forward a wish to moderators to update forms on the sections immigration forms sampel for dowload to allow people to have a clear idea about this forms now.

thank you

Hi there I filled in No for this question since I didn't consider my fiance being a immediate relative. Do you think it is a mistake from me filling in no? I already confirmed my DS-160. They say I need to do this:

'For all applicants: if you made a mistake answering the questions about your family, education, travel, or any security-related question, you must complete a new DS-160 form and print a new confirmation page.' Is that really necessary because I send back my packet 3 already with my DS-160 copy to the consulate..

hi

I cannot confirm to you if that is a mistake, I am refering to experienced members here and their guidance. Some people here did answer no and apparently that was correct because they did not had problems with that during the day of interview, and as I was filling the DS-160 when in that questions in the help section it explains who are immediate relatives (image attached), so I did answered according to the guidance, yet I still did not submit my DS-160.

Were you able to pay the fee online? Or will you need to pay the fee at your interview?

no for th ecountry of Algeria there is no billing online, you have to open account with ustraveldocs and creat a profile and then print the slip receipt and take it to Aramax where you will be paying the visa fees, after 24 hours your account with be allowed to schedule an appointement.

did you get the letter from the embassy? they will be explaining you how to proceed.

best luck

you will need his tax return, I don't think one paycheck stub will be enough, I think if you research on this site you might be able to find an example, there is box at the top that allows a custom search, use that type in what your looking for and it will search the site and you can get a bunch of specific information that way.... I am retired so I don' t need to send a letter of employment, but I am sure there are example you can find, there is lots of information on this site, but it is his tax return and he must make at least 100% federal poverty level so just under $17000 per year and you will have no problems, if he does not, you need another sponser....
