EAD - over 90 days! Any congressman's support experience?

Hello,

 

Today has been a very frustrated day, my husband was laid off in the afternoon.

My EAD/AP/AOS reached the 96 days as an active case. When it reached 90 days I called USCIS and they opened a SR and asked me for waiting 30 days to "track" my inquiry. According to their system the case has not been assigned to any team/person yet.

 

I am in Houston, have any of you guys reached out to the congressman? 

 

This "Waiting Game" is terrible. I cannot drive, cannot work and cannot travel overseas that I know.  Since I got married before asking for SS#, now I depend on EAD or Green Card to ask for it, without SS# I cannot ask for driver's license 😥😐😣

It has been taking 90-120 days for everyone.

I recommend reaching out to your congressman when you are clearly pass the normal processing times. At the moment up until 120 days you are still within what is currently considered normal processing times for EAD. Plus you should only reach out to your congressman when you exhausted all other options. Have you applied for jobs yet?! Try to expedite with a job offer. 

I reached out to my congressman after 135 days of waiting and after my request to expedite based on a job offer was turned down by USCIS (their explanation was my husband is the main sponsor and signed the Affidavit to support me during AOS). Within two days after my congressman reached out to USCIS my EAD was approved.

Maybe try to expedite based on financial hardship since your husband was laid off. That actually should work...

I agree with Californiasunset that it is definitely worth trying to expedite your case because your husband was laid off.
