Social security card experience

My fiance applied for her social security card today. No issues at all! Took about 5 minutes, the worker said that lots of people wait until like 3 days before the i94 expires and get turned away. 

 

I also mentioned that doing it before getting married seems to be easier. He said it's definitely easier, so confirmation from an actual employee who said get it before you're married! 

 

Worst part of the experience is I had to drive 2 hours each way to the office, but not a huge deal.

That's exactly what I did for my fiance now wife when she first came here on here K1 visa. We got her SSN like 2 days after she arrived in her maiden name. We then changed it to her married name a month after us moving to California right after we got married. There was no problem with us changing it at all. I always tell people to get it early rather than waiting.
