Hi guys,

Sorry if this has already been asked, I just wanted to know as it seems the approval process is taking longer than a year, how early can I get an extension on my existing 1 year extension letter, from my understanding its a passport stamp right?

Can I just go ahead and make an appointment at my local immigration office?

Anyone who has already had to do this, any feedback would greatly be appreciated.

This whole process has taken over 16 months now, very frustrating!

Yes. You make an appt through info pass and bring your NOA extension letter, passport, DL (as ID to get in) and your GC. They will give you a stamp in your passport. Its typically for 1 year however there are no hard and fast rules about stamps. They can make it for 3 months, 6 months, 9 months etc. But typically they give you a years time. Remember to be polite and dont go too far in advance before it expires or else they can tell you you still have time left and to come back when the letter is closer to expiring!

Do you know why your ROC is still pending? DId you get any RFEs? If not and its just taking a long time you can put in a service request or contact the Ombudsman.
