Hi. My name is Aqua. My mum is an american citizen and filed for me and my brothers under F1 category and our priority date is January 2010. We received a welcome letter from the NVC in september 2016 and we paid our Visa fees, sent our supporting documents and filled the DS-260 form. A few months ago, my mum received notification from NVC that mine and my immediate younger brother Visa category status  has changed to F3, since we are now married. However, my other brother who isn't married has been scheduled for an interview in August 2017. My question now is, since it is believed that our priority date has not changed, how soon are we going to be scheduled for an interview?  Thank you.

Oh, you mentioned, that you just received visa, so thought, that you already did have an interview as F1. Anyway, the wait time is 12 years now.

but why did you get married when you get the welcome letter and was maybe 6 months away from getting the visa. Now you have years to wait again. You could have did your interview , go to america and then return get married then your husband could be with you in 2 years. But now you got another 7 years wait

No need of lawyer, it's easy to do it yourself if your case isn't complicated.

You received a Welcome letter, it means that NVC opened your case for further processing. That's actually a good question, why did you get married?
