Hi All,

This is my first post and i am probably asking a question that has been asked 100s of times before but im unable to find anything concerning it..

Well i applied for the Visa using DCF in january and on Saturday we received the NOA1. ( it's just 1 piece of paper stating that it is being processed in london). Within this piece of paper it gives a link to the ivprocess page in the US embassy website....

My question is...do i just send the DS-230 now and wait? or do i send the DS-230 with the DS 2001 and the I-864.

Gosh im so lost now...

Will the embassy send me an acknowledgement of what to do next?

Will my wife have to fill in a I-864 form even though she is a student and been in the UK for over 2 years?

Thanks for any help in advanced

Kind Regards

Andy

At your stage I was told by the Embassy not to file the DS-230 or anything else yet, but to just wait until I received the NOA2, followed by the actual packet of forms (DS-230 etc) from the Embassy Visa Dept.

I was also told the same thing by a lawyer.

My husband was then told, by someone else at the Embassy, that you can file your DS-230 forms straight away but that they won't start processing them yet anyway.

I've just had my I-130 NOA2 and am awaiting my forms from the Embassy. I'm sure if I file them any earlier then they'll either lose them or get confused or change the format of the forms in the meantime or something else...

You don't send the I-864 anyway, you get it ready for the interview, then take it along with you.

Mike and Jill's I-130 timeline

11 Jan 2007 - posted I-130 off

13 Apr 2007 - I-130 approved

21 Apr 2007 - packet 3 received

23 Apr 2007 - posted packet 3 to Embassy

25 Apr 2007 - packet 3 received at Embassy PO box

30 Apr 2007 - medical in London

30 Apr 2007 - received packet 4

7 Jun 2007 - interview - visa approved :-)))

9 Jun 2007 - received visa and mystery brown envelope

30 Jun 2007 - planning to move to US

Andy,

No, wait to hear from them. Your I-130 is with USCIS. Your visa stuff will be from the Visa Unit people. Think of them as being in two different buildings if you like.

Yes, the missus must be your Sponsor even if she doesn't qualify. She must complete I-864, and .. well, the rest depends on what you're doing about that.

You can (and should) start collecting everything required for the visa now, ie your police check. When you get the letter from the Consulate, they will ask you to return a checklist (enclosed) letting them know that you are ready. If you are, you can return the checklist immediately and get things going.
