Marriage Certificate

Hi there,

I have been selected for further processing for the year 2018 (October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018).

My question if anyone can help, is:

In order to bring my longtime partner we would have to be married - but there s a bit of a wait (at least one month) to do this in Australia. Do I have to wait until we receive a marriage certificate in order to add her as an applicant? Or can I start my DS-260 form to get the ball rolling and add her later?

Just want to make sure I apply and have all info submitted in time. My case number is in the mid 1900s.

Thanks!

If you start & submit your DS now you'll have to "unlock" it to add her later so may as well wait. You can't add her to the case without a marriage certificate.

If that's an OC case number as I presume it's a high case number so you probably wouldn't interview before the last quarter of the fiscal year anyway. You might also want to read on the britsimonsays website some analysis of the numbers for DV2018.

Thanks for the reply Susie,

Yes that sounds like the best approach.

Hopefully can have a marriage certificate in about a month.

Do you think doing the DS-260 forms in September will be ok?

I am not exactly sure of the time frame I have to complete the DS-260 forms.

Cheers

Phil
