Just a quick update:

After calling and calling and calling for about 30 minutes last night after getting out, I finally was able to speak with someone at NVC who confirmed that our case had been received and assigned a case number.

Looks like they were stacking the petitions in a box for a couple of months to send out in bulk. Hope to read good news soon from others who've been waiting.

- John

YAAAAAAAAYYYY! Happy for you guys!:dance::dance: It's about freakin' time!!! Things will move faster now once you're out of NVC's hands... And before you know it, Diana's celebrating her birthday with you!!!

Congrats sis Diana! It was a tough and frustrating wait and I'm glad that it's finally moving!

And to the rest of you who got stuck at NVC, CONGRATS!!!

ugh! still no record at the nvc. so if i am able to get someone live on the phone does anyone have any suggestions as to what to ask them? my guess is they will just tell me to continue waiting. tuesday, 24 April is exactly 4 weeks since noa2. i was going to start preparing what i think i need for packet 3 (having him get medical and all but seems pointless if i can't even get my case out of the u.s.)

thanks for any advice you can offer!

WOOHOO finally! petition sent off to bkk! apparently from what i was able to find out from the nice person who answered at the nvc was:

(firstly i rang them and used the automated system and was told no record existed)

a) the k-1 visa does not "sit around" the nvc so they are rarely entered into the system usually a 2-3 day stopover in the NVC.

B) the delivery time to the foreign embassy is usually <one week.

Thanks Diana! looks like our timelines are super close so we are sort of in the process together pal! we are still probably 2months or so away from interview but what are 2 more months at this point i guess.

now i just have to figure out how much i can do prior to the embassy sending out packet 3 so there is no lag time. unfortunately my fiance does not read english very well so the lady i hired to help him w/ translation is very slow!

does anyone know if i can send him for his medical before they ask for it? also do i have to do his immunization in thailand?

well, I will have my medical tomorrow and they usualy ask for it in package 4.

Germany is very quick with sending the packages out, so I kinda expect package 3 by the end of this week.

So to answer your question: yes he can have his medical before, all he needs for it is the fee, the NVC case number, a passport style picture, his passport his vaccancies record book and IF he has disseases or mental sicknesses a statement of the doc he used to go to for it. If he needs to get some more shots he should get them BEFORE the medical, that will save him money and time :)

so your part is actually done...unless you didn't send the affidavit of support to him yet....then you can get that ready to ship it over.

He needs to get his police record and his birth certificate (translated)! That's about it

Good luck!

Diana

EDIT: He just needs to get the shots for the K-1 in Thailand. The rest he can get in the states. I just don't remember which ones are necessary for K-1 and it depends on the age too! Maybe someone else can help me out here!

Hello everyone,

Hope all is well. The embassy in Senegal received our petition on Tuesday!! :D  I had e-mailed them on 04/20 to see if they had received it, but they didn't respond until yesterday. I'm assuming because they hadn't received it yet.

They attached all the instructions and documents that my fiance will need for the visa. There wasn't really a separate "packet 3" or "packet 4". The instructions say to gather all the required documents, then call the embassy to schedule the interview. I'm not sure now if they expect me to forward the info to him, or if they'll contact him personally. Well, I'll just forward it to him if they don't.

Oh my goodness, things are really moving now!! It seems like the closer it gets the more anxious and impatient I become. Am I the only one? For those of you who have received packet 3, what did it contain?

Thanks for all the tips!!!! Good luck to all of us.

btw...yep the closer it gets the more anxious and impatient i become too. now that i know we are sort of in the home stretch. woohoo...the bad thing is the embassy in bangkok does not respond to emails about whether or not they received everything from the nvc. so i am guesstimating that if it was mailed 20 april that they will have it no later than tomorrow. hope he gets the packet 3 from them soon!

I just found this thread and crapped my pants with joy.

Our NOA2 was approved on 4-02. It'll be four weeks on Monday without a record in the automated system. I was planning to call them when they opened on Monday.

My worst fear - as in, keeping me away at night - is that they lost the petition. This actually wouldn't surprise me in the least, given my luck.
