Hello Everyone,

My husband submitted his fathers paperwork last year and we are currently waiting for the interview. We have had a friend ask us if his father kids (ages 2 and 4) are coming now or at a later date. We responded that we only submitted paperwork for his father and nothing for the children as my father in law will do so in a couple of years. She then responded that the children will automatically get approved once he does regardless if we put their paperwork in. Apparently that happened to her (They submitted her paperwork and once she went in to her interview they asked her to come back with her daughters passports and when she did they stamped them). I find this very hard to believe given how strict this whole process is. Can someone confirm or deny this?

BTW- she's obviously a non credible source but I'll rather ask now then be completely surprised at a later time.

Thanks in advance.

That is not possible with immediate relatives, your father in law has to come to the US and then submit an application for his kids. Your friend probably had a petition for any Resident or green card holder that allow them to include their child under 21 age.

This is what I was assuming. Thanks for confirming. Best of luck on your journey.

I'm sorry but what do you mean "Your friend probably had a petition for any Resident or green card holder that allow them to include their child under 21 age."?

My wife is currently a green card holder. We plan to file for her mother once she is a US Citizen.

My wife was siblings under age 18 currently. When she files for her mother, from what I understand, her mother must then come to the US as a LPR she can then petition for her minor children. Is that correct?

Just curious by what you meant by the above statement?\

Thank You

You are correct, when your mother in law come to USA as a green card holder she can make a petition for her children under 21 age then they will come between 1.5 to 2 years. If she has children over 21 age, then they will come to USA between 6 to 7 years.
