Entering US for Business while I-130 pending

Hi all,

 

This is just some encouragement for those worried about travelling to the US while they have a I-130 pending, My I-130 was submitted in Feb '17. I travelled to the US for business July'17. I entered on an Visa Waiver (ESTA) via Houston. 

 

No issues at border security, put me through the same as anyone else. I-130 petition did not get mentioned at all.

 

I was worried and had information prepared incase they pulled me aside but it was not needed. (I had proof of outward passage and a letter from my employer)

USCIS

01/18/2017: I-130 mailed

02/13/2017: NOA1

10/30/2017: NOA2

NVC

11/22/2017: NVC welcome letter received (by email, paper copy arrived weeks later)

12/07/2017: Filled in DS-260 online

12/08/2017: Posted NVC package (AOS, IV & Civil Documents)

12/18/2017: NVC Scan date

02/01/2018: NVC Case Complete

03/02/2018: Receive Interview Appointment letter

03/20/2018: Medical appointment

04/17/2018: Interview, result: APPROVED!!!

04/24/2018: Visa Issued and shipped from Consulate

04/26/2018: Visa received!

06/21/2018: Landed in Houston! Passport stamped :)

07/14/2018: Greencard arrived in the mail

Good to know, thank you for this info! I'm wondering if anyone has traveled to the U.S. while at the NVC stage. I'm hoping for NOA2 some time in October. I'm really hoping my husband can travel to the U.S. with me at Christmas time.

4-25-17 NOA 1 & sent to TSC

11-15-17 NOA 2

12-26-17 Case sent to Dept. of State

1-08-18 NVC Received case

3-12-18 Case Number Assigned / AOS & IV Fees Paid

3-14-18 DS-260 Completed

3-16-18 Uploaded Civil Documents

3-21-18 Uploaded AOS Documents 

3-26-18 Checklist to reupload docs

3-29-18 Finished uploading docs

4-4-18 Case Complete

4-13-18 Received interview email

5-18-18 Interview date 

5-24-18 Visa Issued

July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
