US Cit - Filing for Parents Detailed Timeline To Actually Arrive Here

My wife just became a US citizen and we want to file for her parents.  It looks like "all you have to do" is file the I-130 form for each and we "should" even ship them in the same packet from what I'm reading.

My main concern is that I'm reading that Down the road around 6 months or so they'll have us (her?) fill out an affidavit where she's required to make x number of dollars.  Is this household income?  Why wouldn't they ask for this upfront?  I'd hate to get 7 months into it to be denied because my wife (the daughter of her alien parents) doesn't make enough...but I make plenty to make up for it.  So is this a household income?  She only make like 30k by herself....

Does it really take over 8 months before they will arrive here?  It's hard to find anyone posting timelines for this.  And if you look for what "happens after" I only find...what happens after I file the petition...not what happens after they get here.  I was under the impression they get a green card out of this but I'm starting to think we have to file for AoS and all the steps I had to do for my wife.

So the real timeline sounds like this to me so far:

  1. File I-130 now
  2. Get NoA 1 & 2  over 5-8 months so if I file now then January to march or april?..does that mean they'll be here by then or ...just the next step?
  3. Get a request to fill out an I-864...ez ..sometime..?..no? maybe a different one. It's for both her parents.
  4. Get rejected because she, by herself, only makes 30k?  or do I count toward that?
  5. Or they get an interview in the philippines to get their visa and come here...Is this in the same 5-8 months? or are we looking at 12 months now?
  6. Parents arrive in america...x-z months after i-130 filed?

Is there are filing fee for other forms after the I-130?  Seems like a lack of cohesion on this topic about the whole process.  Like it's broken up.  I just want to know front to back to make sure I don't get pushed off the ship halfway through.

the i130 is the first of several forms, the whole process can take a year or over a year

depending on which service center the i130s go to, they will be approved in 5 or more months, the approved forms are sent to the National visa center, the center that processes cases via consular processing in their country of origin. the NVC collects payments forms and other documents needed to complete the cases. the cases are sent to the US Consulate or Embassy where they will have their interview and get their visas

your wife has to prove to the government that her parents won't become a public charge once they are here, if you filed for your wife to become a resident, then you know about the affidavit of support, if she doesn't make enough, you would fill out the i864A for each parent, as her household member and combine your income with hers
