Hi Everyone,

I'm a newbie here and I filed a k1 Visa.

Here's a bit about my information. I'm the petitioner and my fiance is in the Philippines.

Our case status on the NVC website recently changed from in transit to ready on 7/13/17.
At this point I assume it already at the US Embassy in Manila.

I'm hearing that most people do not actually receive packet 3.

My attorney is telling me that I need to wait for the packet with the letter stating that it is OK to go ahead schedule the interview.

Is packet 3 something I really need to wait for in order to schedule the interview?

I also have ready that some people wait for packet 3 and it never arrives.

My fiance is currently 23 weeks pregnant and I'm hoping she can come here before she is 30 weeks.

Any opinions whether or not that would even be possible?

If any of you guys want to chime in that would greatly appreciated!

You can actually call the NVC to get the MNL# before YOU will get the NOA2. You will get the NOA2 with the MNL# but she will NOT get it. But like I said you can call the NVC to get the MNL# so that she can already go ahead and pay the interview fee. You will also need the MNL# to fill out the DS160 for the interview.

Edit: There are many of us over in the Philippines subforum that can help you out if there are any questions that are Philippines specific.

Thanks for the reply  @cyberfx1024 . We do have our manila case number already. My attorney has also completed the DS160. He is just telling me that we will need the packet 3 from NVC before we schedule our interview. Which I'm worried might take too long to actually arrive.

They are also telling me that it is possible to schedule the interview and medical. The only problem we would run into is that we need the documents from packet 3 to actually bring to the interview.

So you do have the NOA2 showing the MNL# correct?

@cyberfx1024 We have our NOA2 from USCIS only. I called NVC to get to get the Manila case number. But as of right now we have not received any documents from NVC or the embassy. But when I track our case number on the NVC website it currently shows ready. From this point I assumed we can schedule our interview. Its just my attorney is just telling me something different.

The NOA2 showing the MNL# is all you need to get things going. You do not need packet 3 here in Manila at all, in some other countries they do have a packet 3 but not in Manila. Also please bear in mind that sometimes attorneys are not up with a specific country's procedures and can actually give you wrong advice for a particular country. They may know the generic stuff about the process but not a specific country's.

You have the NOA2 with the MNL# so what are you waiting for because you should be Full Steam Ahead at this point.

How long has it been since you got the NOA2? Call the NVC to get the MNL# and then pay the visa fee.

That's what I have asked earlier in the thread. Do you have the MNL# and you said yes. So call the NVC to get that MNL#.

The date on my NOA2 is actually June 16. I do already have the case number from NVC. I just do not have a formal document showing the Manila case number from NVC.  Basically all I have would be a screen shot from the NVC website which says my case number and "ready" status.

You can still pay for the interview and schedule the medical with that right now. But I would call NVC right now and ask where that paper is at RIGHT NOW, and see if they can just email you a copy of it. I would not be surprised if they did not just send it to your attorney and he misplaced it. It would not be the first time we have heard something like that on here.

Not a problem just here to help. Also we here on VJ are free of charge and the lights are always on unlike a attorney.

Where is your fiance from in the Philippines if you don't mind me asking?
