I-601 in Nebraska, processing times growing at a very fast rate?

So, I initially filed a I-601 in December, after doing extensive research on processing times it seemed it was 4-6 months on average and processing times chart reflected about that. Now that I've filed (case tracking shows they received the case mid December 16), every time processing times get updated for Nebraska it goes up significantly. It's now at 11 months for I-601, was approx 10 months in the last monthly update?

 

Anyone have any insight into what's happening over there? I'm at month 7 now and still no updates, if it continues increasing at this rate I assume it will take over a year to process my documents. Does anyone have any historical experience or insights into this type of situation and what one can expect? Is it normal for processing times to hit around a year for I-601 at certain times of the year or something?

 

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I can only speak to my own experience with filing our i130 with NSC. There is obviously a huge problem happening with Nebraska. As mentioned in another thread in over 30 working days they have only completed 6 days worth of i130 applications. I searched through some old postings from 2013 and noticed Nebraska had some major problems then too. I'm not sure what they did but once things got bad enough they must have done something to clear the backlog. It took a few months from the looks of it to get back to normal processing times.

 

To give you an example the average processing time for an i130 at other processing centers is taking about 5 months. Nebraska currently is taking 8-9 months. Keep in mind our application fees pay for these people's salaries at Nebraska. This service center has hung up on my lawyer and is incredibly rude to people. I'd tread carefully if you speak to them directly. To file a complaint I believe you have to write to the DHS Office of the Inspector General.
