PD Janauary 13, 2017

Received email yesterday saying my interview was scheduled for April 15, 2019....😃

That's awesome, congrats! I see from your profile you're from Mexico. That means VB will move at least 4 weeks for Mexico and probably World will follow suit! Thanks for the insight!

I don't know what you mean by skip those dates? They don't skip them, people with a PD within those dates are eligible for an interview appointment overseas. Those appointments are typically assigned a month in advance. If your embassy can not fit you into their schedule you won't receive an appointment for the exact month your PD becomes current. Eligibility for an appointment doesn't guarantee one. And the backlog at certain embassies around the world does not prevent the advancement of the VB, as the rest of the world can move forward and your local backlog is not relevant to it.

I feel a lot of people have this simplistic view of the process where we are all put in a single queue and nobody should be cleared "in advance". Where in fact every case has it's own timeframe based on circumstances and a wide range of cases are being processed simultaneously, for efficiency's sake.

By skip, i mean that my PD is current, NVC confirmed that a visa is also available for me on march 1 2019. I dont understand how they couldn’t schedule an interview for me yet and the dates that are current next month i.e. APRIL 2019 can receive an IL in the month they get current. I understand every country embassy works differently depending on their workload. I do not put everything in a single queue but ive been following a lotttt of people whos PD is Dec 2016 and hardly any of them received their interview letters. Ofcourse all from different countries. Anyways, guess its my luck 🤷‍♀️

Well read again what I said about eligibility. So yes, there's a visa for you. But your embassy didn't schedule you.

And you ARE putting everyone in one queue.. you are saying people with later PDs than yours got appointments. But those people don't have an appointment at your embassy.. they have an appointment in Mexico..

About your 2nd statement - a lot of people with Dec PDs are waiting.. how many? 10, 20, 30? Even if they are all from a different country each, which I doubt, there's 195 countries in the world. Some of the embassies are backlogged and people like you, who feel they are treated unfairly, are the most vocal of the bunch.. so I'm not surprised it seems to you as "a lot of people" didn't receive interviews.

You can only compare your case to someone whose embassy is same as yours, assuming they have the exact same circumstances.

I don’t believe im treated unfairly, however, ive been on calls with nvc and the info their call center gave me was that currently they are working on PDs 1 dec 16 - 8 jan 2017. So i was a little confused. But anyways i feel like you’re getting agitated by my queries. I always find your posts useful and informative. Thanks for explaining 👍🏻

I'm not getting agitated, I'm sorry it looks that way! I'm trying to clear things up for you in an illustrative way. And I am following Facebook groups as well, so I was referring to my general impression of the overall "mood" of the people posting there, not yours specifically. I guess I didn't phrase that well enough.

Anyway.. if it still doesn't make sense to you what NVC tells you, you can think of it as a general response to a specific question. You ask them about your case but they are just quoting the VB that applies for that month. Not very informative. It only means a visa is available for you right now but only if you had been scheduled for an interview. And they schedule interviews based on the available dates the embassy sends them. It's actually not very clear whether NVC schedules the people or the embassy. But the dates that are available come from the embassy and NVC sends the letters. The interview appointments are being set for the next month. That is how we can guess the VB movement, for example. So even if people whose PDs aren't current for that month, receive an appointment for the next month when their PD will be current. And if those same would call NVC and ask about their interview, either they will get the response they got an interview, or they will get a generic response that their PD isn't current( which they already know but are hoping it will be current the following month and they will get an interview). It's the same with people whose PD is already current, only the 2nd response changes to there's a visa available.

Now the confusion may also comes from the fact that NVC changed the timeframe of IL. Few months ago people received their ILs at the end of a month, while now they receive them at the beginning, the week before the next VB. Some kind of overlap happens with people who didn't receive interviews the month before and are still calling and are being told they PD is current. While seemingly people whose PD is not, receive ILs. But it's how it's supposed to be, just the timeframe is shifted. So don't rely too much on NVC for answers.

Wow, I hope all that makes more sense to you.

Cheers!

That definitely clears up my confusion. I was also coming upto the conclusion of nvc being very generic when answering my qs. Thankyou for helping me and drawing a better picture out for what happens exactly.

Lets hope I receive my IL this week 🙏🏻🤲🏻

Yeah.. kinda ridiculous. I expect one of next 2 VB to be current. Honestly I saw it going in that direction a few months ago. People are just not coming fast enough out of CSC as the approval times are ever increasing. People who are getting approved today have at least 2.5 months processing at NVC. There's no way they can be done before the VB catches up.

I find it confusing how to use the VB tables. There are two tables:

A.  FINAL ACTION DATES FOR FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCE CASES

B.  DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS

Could someone please explain to me when to use  and when to use B? And how does that impact visa numbers and availability?

Thank you in advance.
