My PD is Nov 14, 2017

haven't yet received the approval letter yet...it's been more than a year....I really want to check what's the normal process time for I-130 to be approved. I assumed this is the previous step before I can submit I-485 once the PD is current, right?

But I don't know how to check which process service center is for my case. any help?

Updated uscis estimate says 19 - 24.5 months just to get approved.

Do you have your NOA1 letter? There you can find your case number and the 3 letters it begins with indicate where your petition is processed. You say you are permanent resident, so your petition is surely at California service center.

You don't have to wait for approval letter before filing i-485, you could've filed a long time ago already. Adjustment of status for f2a is governed by a PD published in the VB's dates for filing table.

Currently, it's taking about 20-21 months to approve the I-130.

Where are you right now?  What's your visa status?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm living in NJ, I'm a permanent resident

You mentioned you would be filing the I-485.  It's the beneficiary that files the I-485.  That lead to my mistake thinking you were the beneficiary.

Where is the beneficiary right now?

It starts with WAC...does that mean California service center?

I'm the applicant and my husband is the beneficiary, he's in US currently under F1 visa. but the thing is both of us are Chinese, so the PD is not current according to the visa bulletin. That's why I haven't submitted the I-485. Am I doing right?

wait, the beneficiary is the one to file I-485? I'm the permanent resident who is applying the green card for my husband. So my husband is the one who should file for I-485?

Another thing I should mention is that both of us are from China. the PD is not current according to visa bulletin for Chinese. So my questions is can I or my husband file for I-485 before the PD is current? I thought we couldn't...

Yes, WAC is California.

This is the VB. Look again at the dates - 2nd table DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS. It's Dec 1st 2017, China included.

Hey Waris,

We are in same boat, mine PD is 18th May 2017. Checking USCIS case status 10 times a day to see some miracle, this waiting time is frustrating. The most recent case I have seen with PD: 20th April 2017, I think they are finishing april month's files this month. We might be seen some progress with May 2017 cases next month (Feb). Keep posted and share your experience, it will be a great help.

I did apply for B-2 (Tourist Visa) for my wife last year in Feb 2018. Consular officer didn't even heard a thing from her, and refused the request right away. Its very very hard to get non-immigrant visa like Tourist one if an immigrant petition has been filed already.

DS-160 (Non-Immigrant Visa) and DS-260 (Immigrant Visa) have the same fields and set of questions, where they clearly ask about in one of the field that is Immigrant petition has been filed for the applicant? And, you can't say "NO". You must say YES and give a brief explanation to that. Looks like this kinda questions are Red Flags which appear on consular officers' screen during the interview, I am not saying its a bad idea to apply for tourist visa but its sort of difficult to get and the fate of applicant is not only in the hands of consular officer but POE CBP Officers also have a right to refuse at entry, their questions are also hard enough to get the free passage and enter the US. I have seen people who went to secondary on SFO airport and sent back to India in next available flight with lot of frustration, fatigue and drama. Every case and situation is different, try your luck.

But, considering the present situation of Pakistan where "AP" is an unknown thing. Its better to avoid refusal and wait for this thing to happen. IF I were in your shoes, I would have wait especially at this point of time when your case is gonna approve any moment and soon you and your wife need to gather many documents to complete the consular processing in order to complete the case with NVC in next few months.

Good Luck with your decision!! And don't forget to share the good news about the approval.

Does any one how long AP takes in Pakistan. My husband interview was on 15May2018. But they kept his passport and email him a questioner to answer about his family back ground and sibling names. Till now his case is in AP and no response from embassy. Even I send them email but the response is same that they don’t know the time limit.
