I got my oath ceremony letter today.  Says the time is 12:30.  Is this the time the ceremony starts or the time I should arrive for the processing?

They always put an early time to allow people settle in and finish the check in process.Check with district court website what time they put for start of the ceremony. For example; Boston district court website shows ceremonies start at 1:30pm, my letter said be there at noon, the ceremony started with judge walking in at 1:40pm.

It's the time you arrive for processing. Depending on how many people are being naturalized that day at your location, the actual oath time will vary.

My letter said 11.30 AM, but since roughly 1200 people were taking the oath that day, the actual oath ceremony started around 1.30PM.

Can't find the district court website for San Diego.  Not with naturalization info anyways.

Update:  So I called the Democratic Party of San Diego, of all organizations, as they seem to be the only ones who have a calendar online with the Naturalization ceremony on it.

And they confirmed the ceremony starts at 2:30, meaning that 12:30 is check in time for processing.

Thanks for this, I'd better call and ask about mine as well which is also vague about when the ceremony actually begins.

Yeah, and actually they have two at the same venue in the same day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  JerReg, one of your December filers, has the morning one and her time is listed at 8:00 AM on her letter.  The Democratic Party said that ceremony starts at 10:00 AM.  So it looks like the custom here is to list it 2 hours ahead of time on the letter for N-445 processing.

Logically, the time given is the time you are expected to arrive. We know they can be silly but silly enough to provide a time other than the time to arrive? I think not.

With the exception being where 2 times are given and it tells you which one is processing.
