Dankjewel for encouraging. :)
I'm smoking for the double time you did, and I hope it still will be fine. If I'm lucky I get to have my medical next week, so I'll finally have these tons of rocks off my shoulders.

Bitte! It's honestly not that bad. They can see the difference between smoke damage and tuberculosis scarring or spots very well.
But yes, I can relate to the feeling. I was happy to get it over with too (since I have a TB history)

Oh yeah, then you can relate.
I was not concerned until I've read somewhere that lung tumors are mostly without symptoms and are mostly found by accident once the chest gets xrayed for other reasons! Since then - and that was in late March - my brain is driving me nuts. I'll finally be able to allow myself to look forward to moving stateside, once that is out of the way.
Fortunately no TB history for me.

Side question: Where in the Netherlands are you from? :) Great country; I have some very lovely friends there!

Oh I had that too. I was so worried they'd find a tumor or anything. I'm sure you will be okay! And so will OP.

I'm from the Gouda - Rotterdam area. Less touristy haha but yes, it's a great country ^_^

Ahh nice! I always wanted to go to Rotterdam to see the harbor! :)
My friends are in Den Haag and Hardenberg!

Thank you! I do hope so! Fortunately the clinic I will have the medical at has walk in hours. So as soon as NVC has a number for our case I'll run there the next day! :)
They got the petition since Tuesday, so it should be next week!

Rotterdam is full of history (WWII) a lot of people don't know of, I definitely recommend the harbor and the city itself as it's planted with statues everywhere.

Good luck on your upcoming medical, girl. Will be crossing my fingers for you! I'm sure everything will be fine.

Hi guys need your help so bad . Im smoker im scared that ill fail my medical in slec i only have few days left to attend my medical exam and im so worried

You have zero reasons to worry about that from an immigration point of view. The lung x-ray is to screen for tuberculosis, which is a contagious disease and needs to be treated before you can get a visa. Tuberculosis is an infection caused by bacterias and has nothing to do with smoking.

Diseases caused by smoking can show up on a lung x-ray of course, but the likelihood of that for a younger person is very, very low and it will not make you inadmissible for a visa. If the doctor would find something caused by smoking, you really want to know about it, because that could be much more serious than tuberculosis. So it's a good idea to quit smoking, not because of the visa, but because smoking is really bad you. If you quit now or later, when the visa process is done, doesn't make a huge difference, though.

Well, actually, tuberculosis is either a disease or infection. For example, I am treated for the TB infection (aka latent TB) while my parents had the TB disease. When it's an infection, the bacteria is in your system but not in your lungs yet therefore, it won't show up on x-rays, plus it's not contagious nor do you feel sick. With TB infections you only have a positive mantoux test (skin test). TB disease is already spread to the lungs and will show up on x-rays and you risk infecting others.

Yeah, they only do the mantoux test when they suspect the infection though. As long as the x-ray is clear of the TB disease, you're good to go.

@Dutchster:
Dankjewel again for your encouraging words!
I had my medical this morning and my xray pic was looking like a page of a medical book - for good reasons! ALL GOOD! :):)
I couldn't be more relieved. Driven myself crazy! So now.... I can finally start looking forward to what's coming! :)

OP: You'll make it! Best of luck for you! :)
