Whew, dodged a bullet there, then!

Of course I know. That doesn't mean I have to let it go uncalled *every* day. :)

Nice

That is a document I would take to SSA when applying for an SSN.

It is also a good document to prove that you are EA if USCIS is taking more than 90 days to issue EAD.

The one caveat is that you have to find an employer willing to reason this out.

Thanks. This one would be better to take to SSA with your application: http://tinyurl.com/34ae2b

The employer stuff.. see form I-9. You still need an EAD or other approved socuments from the various lists.

People in this thread seem to be talking about apples and oranges.

Some have filed for K3, others for K1. These are quite different, with only the latter able to get a EA stamp on I-94 at PoE. That's my understanding anyway.

Moreover that linked document refers to I-551 ADIT stamps on I-94 with a photo as evidence of receipt.

But how is this relevant to K1s? I thought we were talking about PoE stamps here and stamps received after filing for EAD or after filing for OAS.

My questions:

1) can a K1 get this particular stamp, isn't this a temp PR stamp? K1s, as non-immigrants must surely get another stamp.

2) If so, what is it called (what #) and what does it look like?

My fiance went through JFK POE and got his EAD stamp. The officer at JFK told him he could have gotten the same stamp at Logan Airport in Boston. Seems as though perhaps the left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing... unless they have started issuing EAD stamps at Logan.

I-551 is a green card, sometimes in stamp form. You can't get the I-551 stamp unless you have an approved I-485 application, and even then, much like K-1 EAD stamps, they're getting rare.
