Though, in California, it was incredibly common for Hispanic migrants who refused to learn English (more often than not, illegals) to get upset at you for not speaking Spanish in an English speaking country. Make sense of that.

 

I will say, though, long ago I used to deliberately get under my mothers skin because she'd try and sound smart by using words like "irregardless" not realizing its effect of making her look dumb instead.

While it's technically been not "official", it would be silly (to put it in a non-TOS violating sort of way) for anyone to think of the US as anything other than an English speaking country.
