Hi everyone,

who is still waiting for their case number at the NVC and is a pivot case?

I'm still waiting for a case number, but it's only been 4 weeks since the NVC received my file. Could you explain what a pivot case is?

Posted (edited)

Well I called the NVC yesterday and found out that they actually received My case from the department of state on February 27, 2018. But I was informed that as of my call they were now going to forward it on to a supervisor for processing. I was under the impression that they may have forgotten about my file, or something happened because it was strange that my phone call suddenly prompted it to be passed on to a supervisor. The NVC told me that they have six weeks to review it once it gets to a supervisor and then six weeks after they receive all the required paperwork to process it.

My question, and I’m not sure if anyone knows where to find it, is what is the timeframe from the moment it is finally approved and completed until an appointment at the Embassy in Montreal Quebec here in Canada? We fully expect the NVC to take approximately 12 weeks but nobody seems to know how long from the time it’s approved until the embassy appointment gets assigned.

anyone have any thoughts or inside info on that?

I'm still waiting for the case number... The NVC received my application April 6th, 2018. I don't follow on what a "pivot case" is. It just seems like we are waiting in a long queue.

Hi Guys,

This is my first post in this group and I need some suggestion.

1. I came to US in Feb 2017 on B2(Visitor) visa to visit my family. I often come to US for 6 months in US almost every year. My I-94 expiry date was Aug 2017. I was taken to secondary inspection at POE regarding my frequent visits.

2. I met my husband in May 2017. He was a Green card holder. We decided to get married and filed for my B2 extension and I-130 for Consular processing. Since then I am in US. I have not received any decision on my first extension so after 6 months I filed for my 2nd B2 visa extension so that I can stay in US. In the meantime my husband filed for his citizenship and today 04/06/2018, he becomes the citizen and I become his Immediate relative.

All the above processing was done by our attorney till date except my husband's citizenship process (which we had done ourselves)

Now here is the current situation.

1. I had filed my I-130 petition in F2A category. My PD is July 25, 2017. There is no NOA2 received yet.

2. Now I have become an immediate relative that means I don't have to wait for my date to be current and I can file AOS and packet IV.

I want to know where should I send my papers to upgrade my application. USCIS or directly to NVC?

I want to submit all my papers myself instead of going through an attorney as I already gave the hefty amount to him and there is an additional cost which is equivalent to the fees he is asking.

Please advise.

Please note that coming to visit on B2 and to file I130 is a huge red flag as US Immigration considers it grounds for fraudulent case and you may be subject to denial of visa. Kindly check your status online and make sure you don't have any RFE's related to your case. To me it seems like you didn't hear anything because at the time of filing you were not immediate relative or because you had RFEs sent to you which you are unaware of.

It would be best if you leave the country and then update your husband's citizenship to USICS and then go ahead with the case from there so there aren't any problems with visa approval in the future.

Just my opinion. :)

Hi,

I have already filed for AOS. No RFE yet.

Also i came as a visitor but not with an intention to become an immigrant. I happened to meet my hubby and we dated for sometime and decided to get married.

I have hired an attorney who is handling my case and he said there is no issue in adjusting AOS from B2.

Thanks for your reply though.

How long do we have to wait? Getting really impatient the closer we get !

Depends on whether your case is Pivot or not. Lately I've seen approvals in less than a week for non-pivot case, and more than 3 weeks for pivot.

Hi, what is a pivot case and how can I find out?

Really kicking myself for spending 3 weeks on getting documents together for IV.  (Police cert took forever)
