Just wanted to add--I got my digital RFE on January 5th through text & email, and just got the physical RFE in the mail today, so now I'm about to get started on gathering everything I can for them based on what they've asked for. It's bittersweet really...because on one hand, of course I would have much rather had us have gotten no RFE and just an approval instead, but on the other hand I'm so glad to see our case is being worked on/so glad I did get the actual RFE in the mail & now know what they want. Prayers that I can get together exactly what they need & quickly & that we get approved quickly!  (Btw--they are asking for the passport photos of us that I didn't realize we needed until after our I-130 was already sent out, as well as for proof of a bona fide marriage)

(Another reminder for reference: we are at the Potomac Service Center, Priority date July 10th 2017)

Just wondering if you could provide some color on "proof of a bona fide marriage". what is the expectation here? at this stage, i would assume a marriage certificate alone would suffice.

A marriage certificate means nothing except that you are legally married. You know how many people get married just to get a green card?? Not knocking your thoughts but a marriage certificate means that you were married...not that it’s a legit marriage. It’s unfortunate that many people use this tactic and it screws those among us but you’ve at least got to understand their(uscis)side of it.

If the marriage is legit, anyone should be able to prove that it is.

As for anyone who’s disappointed with their rfe(and the progress is represents), I’ll trade you?

Perspective people...let’s try to keep it. I want the best and quickest for everyone but telling me that your case is being worked on(rfe) and being upset about it gets little sympathy from me. I wish that was my problem!

Thanks, Mtn. Point taken, but I'm confused why proof of bona fide is being requested for NOA2. I'm sure photos, call logs and other sorts of proof were not part of the initial submission (unless overlooked). From my understanding,  these are requested later on at the NVC or interview.

According to the instructions, one or more of these should be submitted with the i130:

(1) Documentation showing joint ownership of property;

(2) A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence, meaning you both live at the same address together;

(3) Documentation showing that you and your spouse have combined your financial resources;

(4) Birth certificates of children born to you and your spouse together;

(5) Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. Each affidavit must contain the full name and address of the person making the affidavit; date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit; and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage; or

(6) Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union.

So photos, call logs etc fall under number 6, and would be important for couples who are newly wedded and have not lived together. Sadly, I only knew that after I submitted my i130, although I did put him on my insurance and he is the sole beneficiary to receive my monies and I submitted proof of those.

That's right, I'm sure that I send all the possible proofs that my marriage is true I know that I do not lack anything but when I receive the letter I tell them

Did you include passport photos, copy of your entire passport all pages,  and at least 2 proofs bona fide marriage such as your license and letters from at least 2 family members?  maybe we can figure what you forgot to be ready
