Hi everyone!

The paralegal managing my relative petition case I talked to (because you rarely speak to an actual attorney) said that it takes 3 weeks to prepare the I-130 while I already gave them all my bona fide documents and the biographical information from my wife (US Citizen) and I. Afterwards we are going to meet to review it before sending the package and sign it.

i know that most of you did not choose to hire a lawyer and that it is not necessary. But, does it really take 2-3 weeks to file the I-130? Perhaps an immigration lawyer put this kind of stuff as low priority and doesn’t really work on it?

i now have to change the Return flight ticket date to a later one in order to be able to meet with my lawyer in the U.S. to review the I-130 together and sign before leaving for my home country and wait for the petition to be approved.

Ours did the same thing! He took an entire month and the only reason he got around to it was because we went in to ask why we hadn't received our noa1..

so intead of December 4ish our i130 was received jan9 😤.

its horrible I think lawyers get too many cases and end up making our process even longer because of the wait.

I did everything alone.

K1. AoS. And now RoC.

I did everything by myself  :D from  K1 - AOS- ROC -N400 :-) . We got 1RFE at  the very beginning of the process due to my (USC) husband's document,  issued in 1965 , not having a certification stamp ..other than this, there was no problems..

Visajourney is full of " step-by-step" very helpful instructions.

We didn't hire a lawyer at first but our case got stuck at the uscis for a year and 10 months so we decided to hire a lawyer and after that everything has gone smoothly. FYI lawyers sometimes make mistakes.

Your case went smoothly after that not because it was something only a lawyer could do. A lawyer cannot expedite a case. The lawyer probably did something that you could have done yourself but gladly took your money and made it seemed that you needed him or her. The case got stuck probably because of something you did or did not do.

Yes, lawyers make mistakes. But not when I'm paying them. I'm paying them not to make mistakes.
