Hi all,

I had my interview back in April and I was given the blue paper and asked to provide additional information. I did just that and it was followed up with another request for even more additional documents. I sent these off 3 weeks ago and out case date shows the date they received the documents.

From the little history I have with corresponding with the embassy they normally review the case a couple of days to a week but it has never been 3 weeks and no date change hence review.

Is this something for me to worry about and is it normal for the London embassy to get back so late? It has been such a difficult journey and now we are at the very end it seems like we are in the dark as there is no one you can call for advice at the embassy.

Thank you

It is unusual, London is usually very quick once they have everything. You could be waiting on the security checks, they can take a while especially if you have a common name or have  travelled in MENA countries, have a MENA background  etc.

You can use the contact form on the embassy website and ask them, they generally respond in a day or 2.

Hope you get news soon :)

Hi Trudi,

I know London embassy are pretty quick...we haven't even had the date change to show that something is being done, its like no one has opened our case since the we sent the documents 3 weeks ago. I was born in Ethiopia which is not part of MENA but has Sudan and Somalia as neighbours which are in members of MENA and are in the banned countries in the new US immigration laws. you could be right about the security checks but like I said, the date hasn't changed to show something is being done.

So frustrating that there is nothing I can do and no one to call at the embassy...i will just have to wait. i appreciate your comment though, it was very helpful.

Have you emailed the embassy? They don't take calls regarding immigrant visa applications but they do, apparently, answer emails.

Use the contact form on the embassy website and ask them what the delay is, as you are not a U.K. national by birth it could just be that the security checks they do for all applicants are taking longer to complete but it won't hurt to ask and could ease your mind :)

ps make sure you put your LND number on your email

I sent them an email via the website and they haven't got back to me...and yes I gave them all the details including the LND no. This is a waiting game in the dark and I just pray the end is near - I will be sure to share the news once I know anything. :) thank you Trudi!
