I was thinking of getting my dad's broker to set up a brokerage account to wire money into, instead of a traditional savings account at a bank. We'll still have check-writing privileges and ATM cards and whatnot, and we'll get about 3-3.5% interest tax free besides. The brokerage company has a lot of experience with international transactions like this. Has anyone done this...what are the pitfalls? I'm not overly well-versed in finance.
