Embassy in Rio - Waiting to schedule appointment for K1

Hello, I posted this in the February Filers thread in the K1 Visa section, but thought people here might have an idea of the general wait time to schedule an appointment once our I-129F reaches the embassy.

 

On June 27th we received an email stating that our I-129f was transferred to the embassy in Rio. It also said it was "expedited":

Quote

The U.S. Embassy in RIO DE JANEIRO, BRZL approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your petition to this U.S. Embassy for their action. The Embassy will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview.

 

But since then we haven't received an email to schedule the interview. Assuming they took 4th of July off, it's now been 8 business days. Does it seem appropriate to email the embassy at this point?

My husband had his interview for his K-1 visa in October of 2015.  I believe it took a week from the time the NVC said they were forwarding his case to the consulate in Rio de Janeiro and the consulate sent him an email saying they had received it.  It stated he needed to bring this email with him to be admitted to the consulate for his interview.  It also included information about what he needed to bring to the interview.  He did not wait for (nor did he ever receive) anything from the consulate informing him to schedule his interview. 

 

Once he had the email from the consulate, he went to this website https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-br/iv to register, pay the fee, and select his appointment date.

If you think it's taking too long, reply to the email you got (should be from immigrationrio@state.gov if I'm not mistaken) and ask what's the hold up what can you do etc

Thanks for the feedback! I've sent them an email. Thought about trying to schedule an appointment before receiving their instructions, but I'll try this route first.

They responded with the instructions to make an appointment! I guess there was no reason to wait as long as I did.
